This initiative funds innovative dApps & Apps in two areas: 1) User-friendly applications enhancing Web3 accessibility and usability, and 2) Projects advancing financial inclusion, education, and social impact. The goal is to accelerate growth and adoption of the ecosystem.
Gitcoin Grants Garden
The Gitcoin Grants Garden is an open community working to grow public goods and open source software in the Ethereum ecosystem. The community sources decisions and allocates capital using best practices in bottom-up governance, using $GTC as its governance token.
GoodBuilders Kickoff Round
Gitcoin and GoodDollar are launching this quadratic funding round as the kickoff phase of the GoodDollar Builders Program, designed to empower builders who can enhance G$ token utility, drive real-world impact, and strengthen the ecosystem through innovative solutions.

Gitcoin Grants is our grants program to support both early stage and established builders in Web3. We use Quadratic Funding (QF) to amplify the impact of community donations, meaning the more unique contributors a project has, the more matching funds it receives. This allows smaller donations to have a larger collective impact. We also use metrics-based Retroactive Funding for mature, high-impact initiatives. ‣
Anyone can participate in Gitcoin Grants—whether you’re a project creator looking to apply for funding or a community member looking to donate to projects that resonate with you. Gitcoin Grants is open to all participants within the Web3 ecosystem, regardless of their level of expertise or involvement.
Projects are selected for matching funds based on the number of unique donors they attract. The more donors a project has, the more matching funds it will receive, as per the Quadratic Funding model. This ensures that projects with strong community support are prioritized.
Quadratic Funding is a funding model that maximizes the impact of community contributions. It prioritizes projects with broader support, meaning that even small donations can significantly influence the amount of matching funds a project receives. This model ensures that projects with strong community backing receive more funding.
Retroactive funding is a funding model that maximizes the impact of proven results. It prioritizes projects that have already demonstrated success in the ecosystem, meaning that teams who create real value are rewarded with funding after showing measurable impact. This model ensures that projects with verified achievements receive funding based on their actual contributions rather than just potential.
For Applicants & Grantees
To apply for a grant in GG23, visit grants.gitcoin.co and select the specific round you wish to participate in. Rounds, applications dates, and donation dates will be announced soon.
GG23 is focused on scaling the program's Open Source Software (OSS) program through a multi-mechanism approach. Community Rounds form part of the decentralized part of the program, open to communities wishing to fund their own ecosystems alongside GG's flagship round (OSS).
Gitcoin Grants boasts a combination of Passport XYZ and Cluster Matching, resulting in the strongest sybil resistance. Find out more about how this works here.
If you're participating in the Retro Round, you may not apply to the OSS QF program. If applying to QF, you can only apply to one QF round. You may apply to any and as many community rounds as you are eligible for.
