CAIRO - 23 September 2024: The tragic accident in Derna, Libya, has claimed the lives of 13 Egyptian workers. "Youm7" has obtained the names of the victims who lost their lives in the vehicle crash in eastern Libya. The bodies are expected to be repatriated to Egypt in the coming hours.
An exclusive source confirmed that the Egyptian authorities, including the Egyptian Consulate in Benghazi, are working around the clock to ensure the swift return of the victims' remains to their homeland. The Libyan authorities have already approved the transfer of the bodies to Egypt.
The accident also left four Egyptian workers injured: Hassan Hassan Ibrahim, Diaa Salah Mansour, Badr Abdel Hadi Ibrahim, and Abdel Rahman Hussein Mohamed. These workers are currently receiving medical treatment at Al-Jalaa Hospital in Benghazi, eastern Libya.
Last Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration announced that it was closely following the vehicle crash that occurred in Derna, Libya, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of several Egyptian nationals.
Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, directed the consular department and the Egyptian Consulate in Benghazi to follow the incident closely. The ministry is coordinating with Libyan authorities to ensure that all necessary care is provided to the injured and that the bodies of the deceased are repatriated as soon as the required procedures are completed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims, praying for God's mercy upon the deceased and offering solace to their families in their time of grief.
