Selected advances in the accelerator design of the Future Circular Electron-Positron Collider (FCC-ee) / FCC Collaboration
In autumn 2023, the FCC Feasibility Study underwent a crucial “mid-term review”. We describe some accelerator performance risks for the proposed future circular electron-positron collider, FCC-ee, identified for, and during, the mid-term review. [...]

With a circumference of approximately 91 km, the Future Circular electron-positron Collider, FCC-ee, aims for unprecedented luminosities at beam energies from 45.6 to 182.5 GeV. A major challenge is reaching its design performance in the presence of magnet misalignments and field errors. [...]

FCC-ee is a proposed lepton collider with a circumference close to 100 km to produce an unprecedented amount of luminosity. The FCC-ee optics tuning working group is addressing one of the most critical aspects of the FCC-ee, that is the recovery of the optics design performance in presence of realistic imperfections. The international FCC study group published in 2019 a Conceptual Design Report for an electron-positron collider with a centre-of-mass energy from 90 to 365 GeV with a beam currents of up to 1.4 A per beam. The high beam current of this collider create challenging requirements on the injection chain and all aspects of the linac need to be carefully reconsidered and revisited, including the injection time structure. A collimation system is under study for the FCC-ee to protect the machine from the multi-MJ electron and positron beams and limit the backgrounds to the detectors. One of the key aspects of the collimation system design is the setup of simulation studies combining particle tracking and scattering in the collimators. [...]

The PSI Positron Production experiment, known as $\text{P}^{3}$ or $\textit{P-cubed}$, is a proof-of-principle positron source and capture system that can greatly improve the state-of-the-art positron yield. The $\text{P}^{3}$ project is led by the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland, and addresses the long-standing challenge faced by conventional injector facilities to generate, capture, and damp the emittance of high-current positron beam, which is a major limiting factor for the feasibility of future electron-positron colliders. Simulated performance of FCC-ee IP tuning knobs / Jagabathuni, Satya Sai (CERN ; U. Geneva (main)) ; Zimmermann, Frank (CERN) ; van Riesen-Haupt, Léon (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Hofer, Michael (CERN) ; Carlier, Felix (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne)
The Future Circular electron-positron Collider (FCC-ee) is a proposed accelerator with 91 kilometres circumference that should serve as a Higgs and electroweak factory, with unprecedented luminosity. Unavoidable misalignments and field errors will generate optics errors at the interaction point (IP), whose effect will be amplified by the beam-beam collisions, which will make it challenging for the collider to reach its intended luminosity goals. Impact of dipole quadrupolar errors in FCC-ee / García-Jaimes, C (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Pieloni, T (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; van Riesen-Haupt, L (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Seidel, M (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Tomás, R (CERN)
FCC-ee performance is challenged by magnetic errors and imperfections. Magnetic design simulations predict a systematic quadrupolar component in the arc dipoles significantly impacting the machine optics. [...]

Parameter space for the magnetic design of Nested Magnets in the FCC-ee arc cell / Garcia Jaimes, Cristobal Miguel (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne, LPAP) ; Thabuis, Adrien (CERN) ; Auchmann, Bernhard (PSI, SLS) ; Kosse, Jaap (PSI, SLS) ; van Riesen-Haupt, Léon (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne, LPAP) ; Koratzinos, Michael (CERN) ; Seidel, Mike (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne, LPAP) ; Tomas, Rogelio (CERN) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne, LPAP)
The Future Circular Collider (FCC-ee) is designed to explore the Z and W± bosons, along with the Higgs boson and top quark, achieving exceptionally high luminosity. In order to minimize the energy lost per turn due to Synchrotron Radiation (SR) we explore the use of Nested Magnets (NMs) into the arcs cell. [...]

FCC-ee Overview / Zimmermann, F (CERN) ; Zimmermann, Z (CERN) ; Benedikt, M (CERN) ; Burkhardt, H (CERN) ; Cerutti, F (CERN) ; Ferrari, A (CERN) ; Gutleber, J (CERN) ; Haerer, B (CERN) ; Holzer, B (CERN) ; Jensen, E (CERN) et al.
The FCC-ee is a proposed circular e+e- collider installed in a new 100 km tunnel delivering high luminosity to four experiments at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 91 GeV (Z pole) over 160 GeV (W threshold) and 240 GeV (H production) to 350 GeV (t physics). The FCC-ee design is pursued as part of the global Future Circular Collider (FCC) study, which regards the FCC-ee as a potential intermediate step towards a 100-TeV hadron collider, called FCC-hh, sharing the same tunnel infrastructure.
