Cross software for microprocessor program development at CERN / Von Eicken, H ; Blake, J ; Montuelle, J ; Willers, I
Programs for a variety of microprocessors (including Intel 8080; Motorola 6800, 6809 and 68000; and Texas Instruments 9900) can be prepared on different host computers (such as IBM 370, CDC 6000, and Nord 10) using portable programs developed at CERN. The range of cross software consists of: an assembler for each target microprocessor, a single linkage editor, a single object module librarian, and a variety of pre-loaders which convert object modules from CERN's format (CUFOM) into manufacturers' formats. Application software standardizationCERN as an example / Welch, L C (Indiana Univ Cyclotron Facility, Bloomington, IN, USA)
A method of standardizing universally useful software is discussed using CERN as an example of one such standard which is successful. A two-level standard is suggested wherein the lower level is coded in assembler at each participating site and trends to be subroutines which perform elementary tasks. [...]

M.U.M.M. - a micro-controlled universal message multiplexer / Fontaine, G ; Guglielmi, L ; Jaeger, J J ; Szafran, S
Based on the Motorola 6800, this multiplexer is designed to provide a microprocessor development tool in the specific environment of a high- energy physics laboratory. The basic philosophy of this device is to allow communication of a target (prototype) processor with a host computer under control of a human operator. [...]

DIM, a portable, light weight package for information publishing, data transfer and inter-process communication / Gaspar, C ; Charpentier, P ; Dönszelmann, M
The real-time systems of HEP experiments are presently highly distributed, possibly on heterogeneous CPUs. In many applications, there is an important need to make information available to a large number of other processes in a transparent way. [...]

Mainframe backup for software support / Davies, H E
A computer system consisting of several PDP-11 minicomputers linked to a CII 10070 computer is used at CERN to acquire and check data from a series of high energy physics experiments. All program preparation for the minicomputers is carried out on the large machine. [...]
