CFD analysis and optimization of a liquid lead–bismuth loop target for ISOL facilities / Houngbo, D (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Popescu, L (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Schuurmans, P (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Delonca, M (CERN) ; Losito, R (CERN) ; Maglioni, C (CERN) ; Stora, T (CERN) ; Bricault, P (TRIUMF) ; Vierendeels, J (U. Gent (main))
In the context of the forthcoming next generation of Radioactive Ion Beams (RIBs) facilities based on an Isotope Separation On Line (ISOL) method, the development of production targets capable of dissipating the high power deposited by the primary beam is a major challenge. The concept of a high-power target based on a liquid Pb–Bi loop incorporating a heat-exchanger and a diffusion chamber was proposed within EURISOL DS and is being developed within the LIEBE1 project. Design and tests for the new CERN-ISOLDE spallation source: an integrated tungsten converter surrounded by an annular UC$_{\chi}$ target operated at 2000 °C / Ramos, J P (CERN) ; Ballan, M (INFN, Legnaro) ; Egoriti, L (TRIUMF ; British Columbia U.) ; Houngbo, D (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Rothe, S (CERN) ; Augusto, R S (CERN ; Munich U.) ; Gottberg, A (TRIUMF) ; Dierckx, M (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Popescu, L (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Marzari, S (CERN) et al.
The production of high intensity and isobarically pure neutron-rich fission fragments is of high importance for the physics research program of the ISOLDE facility at CERN. This is typically done in a two-step method where a tungsten converter, positioned parallel and below the UC$_{\chi}$ target, is irradiated with 1.4 GeV protons. [...]

Exploring the Potential of High-Molar-Activity Samarium-153 for Targeted Radionuclide Therapy with [$^{153}$Sm]Sm-DOTA-TATE / Vermeulen, Koen (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Van de Voorde, Michiel (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Segers, Charlotte (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Coolkens, Amelie (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Pérez, Sunay Rodriguez (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Daems, Noami (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Duchemin, Charlotte (Leuven U. ; CERN) ; Crabbé, Melissa (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Opsomer, Tomas (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Vargas, Clarita Saldarriaga (SCK-CEN, Mol) et al.
Samarium-153 is a promising theranostic radionuclide, but low molar activities (Am) resulting from its current production route render it unsuitable for targeted radionuclide therapy (TRNT). Recent efforts combining neutron activation of $^{152}$Sm in the SCK CEN BR2 reactor with mass separation at CERN/MEDICIS yielded high-Am $^{153}$Sm. [...]

Quantification of radioisotopes produced in 1.4 GeV proton irradiated lead–bismuth eutectic targets / Choudhury, Dibyasree (Saha Inst.) ; Lahiri, Susanta (Saha Inst. ; HBNI, Mumbai) ; Naskar, Nabanita (Saha Inst.) ; Delonca, Melanie (CERN) ; Stora, Thierry (CERN) ; Ramos, Joao Pedro (CERN ; SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Aubert, Elodie (CERN) ; Dorsival, Alexandre (CERN) ; Vollaire, Joachim (CERN) ; Augusto, Ricardo (CERN ; Munich U. ; TRIUMF) et al.
Six cylindrical lead bismuth eutectic (LBE) targets having fixed diameter of 6 mm and varying lengths of 8–50 mm were irradiated with a 1.4 GeV proton beam at CERN-ISOLDE. Both short-lived ($5\hbox { h } {<}\hbox {T}_{1/2} {<}5\hbox { days}$) and long-lived ($\hbox {T}_{1/2} {>}5\hbox { days}$) radionuclides were identified by off-line $\gamma $-spectrometry and their activities at the end of bombardment (EOB) were determined. First ion source at ISOL@MYRRHA with an improved thermal profile - Theoretical considerations / Hurier, S (SCK-CEN, Mol ; Leuven U.) ; Rijpstra, K (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Ramos, J P (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Popescu, L (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Cocolios, T E (Leuven U.) ; Mancheva, R (Leuven U. ; CERN) ; Chrysalidis, K (CERN) ; Rothe, S (CERN) ; Au, M (CERN) ; Koliatos, A (CERN)
ISOL@MYRRHA will be a new Radioactive Ion Beam (RIB) facility in Belgium based on the Isotope Separation On-Line (ISOL) technique, and established within the framework of MYRRHA, the world’s first large-scale accelerator driven system project at power levels scalable to industrial systems. The surface ion source, or hot cavity, is chosen as initial source for its reliability and simple design. [...]

Resonant laser ionization and mass separation of $^{225}$Ac / Johnson, Jake D (Leuven U.) ; Heines, Michael (Leuven U.) ; Bruchertseifer, Frank (Geel, JRC) ; Chevallay, Eric (CERN) ; Cocolios, Thomas E (Leuven U.) ; Dockx, Kristof (Leuven U.) ; Duchemin, Charlotte (Leuven U. ; CERN) ; Heinitz, Stephan (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Heinke, Reinhard (Leuven U. ; CERN) ; Hurier, Sophie (Leuven U. ; SCK-CEN, Mol) et al.
$^{225}$Ac is a radio-isotope that can be linked to biological vector molecules to treat certain distributed cancers using targeted alpha therapy. However, developing $^{225}$Ac-labelled radiopharmaceuticals remains a challenge due to the supply shortage of pure $^{225}$Ac itself. [...]

A novel production system based on the Isotope Separation On-Line (ISOL) method is being developed to produce intense mass separated $^{11}$C beams for PET-aided hadron therapy. In this work, we present a systematic study of the target that was developed for optimized $^{11}$C beam production. [...]
