Heavy-flavor hadro-production with heavy-quark masses renormalized in the ${\overline{\rm MS}}$, MSR and on-shell schemes / Garzelli, M.V. (Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II) ; Kemmler, L. (Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II) ; Moch, S. (Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II ; MTA-DE, Debrecen) ; Zenaiev, O. (CERN)
We present predictions for heavy-quark production at the Large Hadron Collider making use of the ${\overline{\rm MS}}$ and MSR renormalization schemes for the heavy-quark mass as alternatives to the widely used on-shell renormalization scheme. We compute single and double differential distributions including QCD corrections at next-to-leading order and investigate the renormalization and factorization scale dependence as well as the perturbative convergence in these mass renormalization schemes. NNLO fits of top-quark mass using total, single-differential and double-differential $t\bar{t}+X$ cross-section data / Alekhin, S. (Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II) ; Garzelli, M.V. (Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II ; CERN ; Cagliari U.) ; Mazzitelli, J. (PSI, Villigen) ; Moch, S.-O. (Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II) ; Zenaiev, O. (Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II)
We describe the fits of the top-quark mass value at NNLO using as input the double-differential distributions in rapidity and invariant mass of $t\bar{t}$ pairs obtained by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations from unfolding of their experimental data to the parton level, compared to NNLO theory predictions. We consider different state-of-the-art PDF sets, finding results of the fits compatible among each other within uncertainties. [...]

UHECR measurements and physics at man-made accelerators: mutual constraints / Garzelli, Maria Vittoria (Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II ; CERN)
Measurements of the products of UHECR interactions with the Earth's atmosphere, as obtained in Extended Air Shower experiments, offer important information concerning hadronic interactions, which for some aspects overlaps and for many others complements the information extracted by measurements of collisions at human-made accelerators. Probing the strange content of the proton with charm production in charged current at LHeC / Abdolmaleki, Hamed (Semnan U.) ; Bertone, Valerio (INFN, Pavia ; Pavia U.) ; Britzger, Daniel (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Camarda, Stefano (CERN) ; Cooper-Sarkar, Amanda (Oxford U.) ; Geiser, Achim (DESY) ; Giuli, Francesco (INFN, Rome2 ; Rome U., Tor Vergata) ; Glazov, Alexander (DESY) ; Luszczak, Agnieszka (Cracow Tech. U.) ; Novikov, Ivan (Dubna, JINR) et al. /xFitter Developers' Team
We study charm production in charged-current deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) using the xFitter framework. Recent results from the LHC have focused renewed attention on the determination of the strange-quark parton distribution function (PDF) and the DIS charm process provides important complementary constraints on this quantity. Design, Construction and Commissioning of a Technological Prototype of a Highly Granular SiPM-on-tile Scintillator-Steel Hadronic Calorimeter / CALICE Collaboration
The CALICE collaboration is developing highly granular electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters for detectors at future energy frontier electron-positron colliders. After successful tests of a physics prototype, a technological prototype of the Analog Hadron Calorimeter has been built, based on a design and construction techniques scalable to a collider detector. Impact of the heavy quark matching scales in PDF fits / xFitter Developers Team Collaboration
We investigate the impact of displaced heavy quark matching scales in a global fit. The heavy quark matching scale $\mu_{m}$ determines at which energy scale $\mu$ the QCD theory transitions from $N_{F}$ to $N_{F}+1$ in the Variable Flavor Number Scheme (VFNS) for the evolution of the Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) and strong coupling $\alpha_S(\mu)$. Non-perturbative QCD effects from Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) may be constrained by using high-statistics Large Hadron Collider (LHC) data. Drell-Yan (DY) measurements in the Charged Current (CC) case provide one of the primary means to do this, in the form of the lepton charge asymmetry. [...]

We present an analysis of the sensitivity of current and future LHC searches for new spin-0 particles in top-anti-top-quark ($t\bar{t}$) final states, focusing on generic axion-like particles (ALPs) that are coupled to top quarks and gluons. [...]
