Track finding in silicon trackers with a small number of layers / Frühwirth, R. (HEPHY) ; Glattauer, R. (HEPHY) ; Lettenbichler, J. (HEPHY) ; Mitaroff, W. (HEPHY) ; Nadler, M. (HEPHY)
We present software based on novel techniques, aiming at track finding in silicon trackers with a small number of layers. The core algorithm is a cellular automaton, followed by a Kalman filter and a Hopfield neural network. [...]

Track Reconstruction in the Forward Region of the Detector ILD at the Electron-Positron Linear Collider ILC / Glattauer, Robin (TU Vienna)
The subject of this thesis is the reconstruction of charged particle tracks in the forward region of the International Large Detector (ILD), one of two validated detector concepts for the future International Linear Collider (ILC). Recent results from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) suggest that the last missing piece of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics, the Higgs boson, could have been found. [...]

Track reconstruction at the ILC: the ILD tracking software / Gaede, F (DESY) ; Aplin, S (DESY) ; Glattauer, R (Vienna, OAW) ; Rosemann, C (DESY) ; Voutsinas, G (DESY)
One of the key requirements for Higgs physics at the International Linear Collider ILC is excellent track reconstruction with very good momentum and impact parameter resolution. [...]

New developments in vertex reconstruction for CMS / Frühwirth, R ; Prokofiev, K ; Speer, T ; Vanlaer, P ; Waltenberger, W
Presently, two kinds of least-squares (LS) vertex fits are implemented in the ORCA reconstruction program (http://cmsdoc.cern.ch /orca) of the CMS experiment (http://cmsinfo.cern.ch): a full Kalman filter, and an iterative fit working with the impact points of the tracks with respect to an expansion point. In this contribution we concentrate on nonlinear, robust estimators which are insensitive to outlying observations. [...]

Pattern recognition in the Silicon Vertex Detector of the Belle II experiment / Lettenbichler, Jakob (Vienna University)
The purpose of this thesis is to present a possible way of track finding specialized for low momentum tracks within the Silicon Vertex Detector (SVD) of the Belle II experiment. Track finding algorithms are an essential tool for the reconstruction of tracks of elementary particles moving through the detector. Chapter 1.2 is a general description of accelerators used for particle collision experiments and detectors used for recording tracks of produced particles. Chapter 1.3 gives an overview of the steps of event reconstruction. Chapter 2 describes the current situation at Belle and the future Belle II. [...]

Track Reconstruction in the CMS Tracker / Speer, T (Zurich U.) ; Adam, W (Vienna, OAW) ; Frühwirth, R (Vienna, OAW) ; Strandlie, A (Gjovik Coll. Engineering) ; Todorov, T (Strasbourg, IReS ; CERN) ; Winkler, M (CERN)
An overview of the track reconstruction algorithms used in the tracker of the CMS experiment at the LHC is presented. At the LHC, track reconstruction will be a very challenging task due to the high number of tracks foreseen. [...]

LHCb’s Forward Tracking algorithm for the Run 3 CPU-based online track reconstruction sequence / Günther, Paul Andre (Heidelberg U.)
In Run 3 of the LHC the LHCb experiment faces very high data rates containing beauty and charm hadron decays. Thus the task of the trigger is not to select any beauty and charm events, but to select those containing decays interesting for the LHCb physics programme. [...]

Development and Study of Different Muon Track Reconstruction Algorithms for the Level-1 Trigger for the CMS Muon Upgrade with GEM Detectors / Lenzi, Thomas
In the upcoming years, with the upgrade of the LHC to higher luminosities, CMS will be subject to an increasing flux of particles, especially in its most forward region, at | \eta | > 1.6 [...]

We present a computer-farm based data reduction system for the pixel detector of the future Belle II experiment. Belle II is a major upgrade of the Belle detector that is currently ongoing in KEK (Tsukuba, Japan). Belle II will collect data from SuperKEKB, an asymmetric e+e􀀀 collider whose target luminosity (81035 Hz=cm2) is a factor 40 larger than the present world record held by its predecessor KEKB. [...]
