Using Forward-Backward Drell-Yan Asymmetry in PDF Determinations / Fiaschi, Juri (Munster U., ITP) ; Accomando, Elena (Southampton U.) ; Hautmann, Francesco (Oxford U. ; CERN) ; Moretti, Stefano (Southampton U.) /xFitter developer’s team
We study the impact of the inclusion of Neutral Current (NC) DY data from LHC mapped in the Forward-Backward Asymmetry ($A_{\rm FB}$) observable on PDF uncertainties, using the open source platform \texttt{xFitter}. We find that $A_{\rm FB}$ enables new PDF sensitivity at current and future luminosity stages of LHC..

Non-perturbative QCD effects from Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) may be constrained by using high-statistics Large Hadron Collider (LHC) data. Drell-Yan (DY) measurements in the Charged Current (CC) case provide one of the primary means to do this, in the form of the lepton charge asymmetry. [...]

Production of Z'-Boson Resonances with Large Width at the LHC / Accomando, E. (Southampton U.) ; Coradeschi, F. (Cambridge U., DAMTP) ; Cridge, T. (University Coll. London) ; Fiaschi, J. (Munster U., ITP) ; Hautmann, F. (Antwerp U. ; Oxford U. ; Basque U., Bilbao ; CERN) ; Moretti, S. (Southampton U.) ; Shepherd-Themistocleous, C. (Rutherford) ; Voisey, C. (Cambridge U.)
Di-lepton searches for Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) Z' bosons that rely on the analysis of the Breit-Wigner (BW) line shape are appropriate in the case of narrow resonances, but likely not sufficient in scenarios featuring Z' states with large widths. Conversely, alternative experimental strategies applicable to wide Z' resonances are much more dependent than the default bump search analyses on the modelling of QCD higher-order corrections to the production processes, for both signal and background. Lepton-Charge and Forward-Backward Asymmetries in Drell-Yan Processes for Precision Electroweak Measurements and New Physics Searches / Fiaschi, Juri (Liverpool U., Dept. Math.) ; Giuli, Francesco (CERN ; INFN, Rome2 ; Rome U., Tor Vergata) ; Hautmann, Francesco (Antwerp U. ; Oxford U.) ; Moretti, Stefano (Southampton U.)
Precision determinations of Standard Model (SM) Electro-Weak (EW) parameters at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are dominated by uncertainties due to Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs). Reweighting and profiling techniques are routinely employed to treat this. [...]

Enhancing the Large Hadron Collider Sensitivity to Charged and Neutral Broad Resonances of New Gauge Sectors / Fiaschi, Juri (Liverpool U., Dept. Math.) ; Giuli, Francesco (CERN ; INFN, Rome2 ; Rome U., Tor Vergata) ; Hautmann, Francesco (Antwerp U. ; Oxford U.) ; Moretti, Stefano (Southampton U.)
In scenarios beyond the Standard Model (BSM) characterized by charged ($W^\prime$) or neutral ($Z^\prime$) massive gauge bosons with large width, resonant mass searches are not very effective, so that one has to exploit the tails of the mass distributions measured at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In this case, the LHC sensitivity to new physics signals is influenced significantly by systematic uncertainties associated with the Parton Distribution Functions (PDF), particularly in the valence quark sector relevant for the multi-TeV mass region. Forward-backward asymmetry of Drell-Yan pairs /CMS Collaboration
We present a measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry (A$_{\rm FB}$) for opposite charge lepton pairs produced via an intermediate Z/$\gamma^*$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV in the CMS experiment. Our results are based on an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb$^{-1}$. [...]

$\mathbf{Z^\prime}$-boson dilepton searches and the high-$\mathbf{x}$ quark density / Fiaschi, J. (Liverpool U., Dept. Math.) ; Giuli, F. (CERN) ; Hautmann, F. (CERN ; Antwerp U. ; Oxford U.) ; Moch, S. (Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II) ; Moretti, S. (Southampton U. ; Uppsala U.)
We study the influence of theoretical systematic uncertainties due to the quark density on LHC experimental searches for $Z^\prime$-bosons. Using an approach originally proposed in the context of the ABMP16 PDF set for the high-$x$ behaviour of the quark density, we presents results on observables commonly used to study $Z^\prime$ signals in dilepton channels..

Forward-Backward Asymmetry of di-Lepton Pairs and the Weak-mixing Angle /CMS Collaboration
We present a measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry (A$_{\rm FB}$) of opposite sign lepton pairs ($e^+e^-$ and $\mu^+\mu^-$) produced via an intermediate Z/$\gamma*$ in LHC proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV. We also present a measurement of the effective weak-mixing angle ($\theta_{\rm eff}$) via a multivariate likelihood fit of the rapidity, di-lepton invariant mass, and decay angle distributions. Our results are based on an integrated luminosity up to 40~pb$^{-1}$. [...]
