The light yield, the time resolution and the efficiency of different types of scintillating tiles with direct Silicon Photomultiplier readout and instrumented with a customised front-end electronics have been measured at the Beam Test Facility of Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati and several test stands. The results obtained with different configurations are presented. [...]

On the wake of the results obtained so far at the SPARC\_LAB test-facility at the Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati (Italy), we are currently investigating the possibility to design and build a new multi-disciplinary user-facility, equipped with a soft X-ray Free Electron Laser (FEL) driven by a $\sim$1 GeV high brightness linac based on plasma accelerator modules. This design study is performed in synergy with the EuPRAXIA design study. [...]

The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Project is a Centro Fermi - CERN - INFN - MIUR Collaboration Project, for the study of extremely high-energy cosmic rays, which exploits the Multigap Resistive Plate Chamber (MRPC) technology. The excellent time resolution and good tracking capability of this detector allows us to study Extensive Air Showers (EAS) with an array of telescopes distributed all over the Italian territory. A compact light readout system for longitudinally segmented shashlik calorimeters / Berra, A. (INFN, Milan Bicocca ; Insubria U., Como) ; Brizzolari, C. (INFN, Milan Bicocca ; Insubria U., Como) ; Cecchini, S. (INFN, Bologna) ; Cindolo, F. (INFN, Bologna) ; Jollet, C. (Strasbourg, IPHC ; Louis Pasteur U., Strasbourg I) ; Longhin, A. (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U. ; INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U. ; INFN, Bologna) ; Meregaglia, A. (Strasbourg, IPHC ; Louis Pasteur U., Strasbourg I) et al.
The longitudinal segmentation of shashlik calorimeters is challenged by dead zones and non-uniformities introduced by the light collection and readout system. This limitation can be overcome by direct fiber-photosensor coupling, avoiding routing and bundling of the wavelength shifter fibers and embedding ultra-compact photosensors (SiPMs) in the bulk of the calorimeter.
