Magnetic Moments of Short-Lived Nuclei with Part-per-Million Accuracy: Toward Novel Applications of $\beta$-Detected NMR in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology / Harding, R.D. We determine for the first time the magnetic dipole moment of a short-lived nucleus with part-per-million (ppm) accuracy. To achieve this two orders of magnitude improvement over previous studies, we implement a number of innovations into our $\beta$-detected Nuclear Magnetic Resonance ($\beta$-NMR) setup at ISOLDE/CERN. Lattice continuum-limit study of nucleon quasi-PDFs / Alexandrou, Constantia (Cyprus U. ; Cyprus Inst.) ; Cichy, Krzysztof (Mickiewicz U., Poznan) ; Constantinou, Martha (Temple U.) ; Green, Jeremy R. (CERN) ; Hadjiyiannakou, Kyriakos (Cyprus U. ; Cyprus Inst.) ; Jansen, Karl (DESY) ; Manigrasso, Floriano (Cyprus U. ; Humboldt U., Berlin ; Rome U., Tor Vergata) ; Scapellato, Aurora (Mickiewicz U., Poznan) ; Steffens, Fernanda (Bonn U.)
The quasi-PDF approach provides a path to computing parton distribution functions (PDFs) using lattice QCD. This approach requires matrix elements of a power-divergent operator in a nucleon at high momentum and one generically expects discretization effects starting at first order in the lattice spacing $a$. Precision test of many-body QED in the Be$^{+} 2p$ fine structure doublet using short-lived isotopes / IS449 collaboration
Absolute transition frequencies of the $2s\; ^2{\rm S}_{1/2} \rightarrow 2p\;^2\mathrm{P}_{1/2,3/2}$ transitions in Be$^+$ were measured for the isotopes $^{7,9-12}$Be. The fine structure splitting of the $2p$ state and its isotope dependence are extracted and compared to results of \textit{ab initio} calculations using explicitly correlated basis functions, including relativistic and quantum electrodynamics effects at the order of $m \alpha^6$ and $m \alpha^7 \ln \alpha$. Neutrino Rate Predictions for FASER / FASER Collaboration
The Forward Search Experiment (FASER) at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has recently directly detected the first collider neutrinos. Neutrinos play an important role in all FASER analyses, either as signal or background, and it is therefore essential to understand the neutrino event rates. [...]

Nuclear moments of indium isotopes reveal abrupt change at magic number 82 / Vernon, A R (Manchester U. ; MIT ; Leuven U.) ; Garcia Ruiz, R F (MIT ; CERN) ; Miyagi, T (TRIUMF) ; Binnersley, C L (Manchester U.) ; Billowes, J (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M L (Manchester U.) ; Bonnard, J (York U., England) ; Cocolios, T E (Leuven U.) ; Dobaczewski, J (York U., England) ; Farooq-Smith, G J (Leuven U.) et al.
In spite of the high-density and strongly correlated nature of the atomic nucleus, experimental and theoretical evidence suggests that around particular ‘magic’ numbers of nucleons, nuclear properties are governed by a single unpaired nucleon$^{1,2}$. A microscopic understanding of the extent of this behaviour and its evolution in neutron-rich nuclei remains an open question in nuclear physics$^{3–5}$. [...]

We report on laser cooling of a large fraction of positronium (Ps) in free-flight by strongly saturating the $1^3S$-$2^3P$ transition with a broadband, long-pulsed 243 nm alexandrite laser. The ground state Ps cloud is produced in a magnetic and electric field-free environment. [...]

(CERN ; Geneva U.) et al.
Recently there has been an increased interest to apply the sensitive $\beta$-decay asymmetry detected nuclear magnetic resonance ($\beta$-NMR) technique to biological studies. A liquid-sample $\beta$-NMR setup was build at ISOLDE to allow such investigations and to use the resolution gain of liquid-state NMR in nuclear physics. [...]

(Vienna, Tech. U., Atominst.) ; Beeks, K. (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) et al.
A comparative vacuum ultraviolet spectroscopy study conducted at ISOLDE-CERN of the radiative decay of the $^{229m}$Th nuclear clock isomer embedded in different host materials is reported. The ratio of the number of radiative decay photons and the number of $^{229m}$Th embedded are determined for single crystalline CaF$_2$, MgF$_2$, LiSrAlF$_6$, AlN, and amorphous SiO$_2$. [...]
