Hardware Commissioning of the HL-LHC Inner Triplet String Facility at CERN: Individual System and Short Circuit Tests
/ Yammine, Samer (CERN) ; Antoine, Alain (CERN) ; Onufrena, Aleksandra (CERN) ; Perin, Antonio (CERN) ; Panev, Bozhidar Ivanov (CERN) ; Bozzini, Davide (CERN) ; Coulot, Emilien (CERN) ; Thiesen, Hugues (CERN) ; Zerlauth, Markus (CERN) ; Bajko, Marta (CERN) et al.
The goal of the High Luminosity-Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) Inner Triplet (IT) String test, is to validate the assembly and connection procedures and tools required for its construction, to assess the collective behavior of the superconducting magnet chain in conditions as close as possible to those of their operation in the HL-LHC and to provide a training opportunity for the equipment teams for their work in the LHC tunnel. The IT String includes the systems required for operation at nominal conditions, such as the cryogenics, powering and quench protection systems. [...]

HL-LHC magnet production: building a complex planning to identify bottlenecks
/ Fleury, Sarah (CERN) ; Todesco, Ezio (CERN) ; Barberan Marin, Maria (CERN) ; Bernardini, Marzia (CERN)
The High-Luminosity LHC project aims to enhance the integrated luminosity of the LHC machine by a factor of 10, by upgrading various components located in the LHC tunnel just before the collision points, with cutting-edge technologies. Among these innovations are the new superconducting magnets equipped with a combination of $Nb-Ti$ and $Nb_3Sn$. [...]

Measurement of integrated gradient and field quality on the first Q2 magnets for HL-LHC
/ Fiscarelli, Lucio (CERN) ; Todesco, Ezio (CERN) ; Mangiarotti, Franco (CERN) ; Deferne, Guy (CERN) ; Pentella, Mariano (CERN) ; Rogacki, Piotr (CERN) ; Russenschuck, Stephan (CERN) ; Izquierdo Bermudez, Susana (CERN)
The Q2 insertion quadrupoles for the High Luminosity upgrade of the LHC are currently being produced and tested. The test of the first units provides valuable information about the field quality of superconducting accelerator magnets built from Nb3Sn coils. [...]

Modeling and Commissioning of a Cold Compressor String for the Superfluid Cryogenic Plant at Fermilab's Cryo-module Test Facility
/ Ueresin, C (Linde Kryotechnik, Pfungen) ; Decker, L (Linde Kryotechnik, Pfungen) ; Treite, P (Linde Kryotechnik, Pfungen)
In 2011, Linde Cryogenics, a division of Linde Process Plants, Tulsa, Oklahoma, was awarded the contract to deliver a 500 W at 2 K superfluid cryogenic plant to Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) in Batavia, Illinois, USA. This system includes a cold compressor string with three centrifugal compressors and a vacuum pump skid with five volumetric pumps in parallel used to pump down helium to its saturation pressure corresponding to 2 K. Cryogenic Current Comparators as Low Intensity Diagnostics for Ion Beams
/ Sieber, Thomas (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Crescimbeni, Lorenzo (U. Jena (main) ; Darmstadt, GSI) ; Haider, David (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Marsic, Nicolas (Denmark, Tech. U.) ; Schmelz, Matthias ; Schmidl, Frank (U. Jena (main)) ; Schwickert, Marcus ; Stöhlker, Thomas (Helmholtz Inst., Jena ; Darmstadt, GSI) ; Stolz, Ronny (Ilmenau Tech. U.) ; Tan, Jocelyn (CERN) et al.
The Cryogenic Current Comparator (CCC) is a SQUID based superconducting device for intensity measurement, firstly proposed as a beam diagnostics instrument in the 90s at GSI. After prove of principle the CCC was introduced into other facilities, attesting great potential for high resolution measurements but at the same time considerable mechanical and cryogenics challenges and costs.
