Quantifying the performance of decoding algorithms using Graphic Processing Units for the RICH subdetector at LHCb
/ Ruzicka, Josef (Unlisted, CR) ; Asch, Christian (Unlisted, CR) ; Arguedas-Cuendis, Sergio (Unlisted, CR) ; Mariani, Saverio (CERN) ; Jones, Christopher Robert (Cambridge U.) ; Meneses, Esteban (Unlisted, CR)
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) located at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) is the largest accelerator in the world, where proton-proton collisions take place at the as-of-today highest energy ever reached. The Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) experiment is located at one of the LHC interaction points, and its detector and readout electronics are currently able to cope with the 40 MHz bunch crossing rate, corresponding to 4 TB/s. As part of the upgrade to the Inner Tracking System 3 (ITS3) for ALICE and the strategicR&D; programme of the CERN EP department, stitched Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) arebeing developed using a 65 nm CMOS imaging process. Several sensor prototypes were characterizedin laboratory using radioactive sources, particularly the $^{55}$Fe source, which was extensivelyused. [...]

For the LS3 ALICE ITS3 upgrade the detector material budget reduction has been pushed to the limit by proposing a system composed almost exclusively of silicon wafer thinned down to 50μm. This improves performance, but adds complexity to the ASIC design. [...]

Search for charged Higgs bosons produced in top-quark decays or in association with top quarks and decaying via $H^{\pm} \to \tau^{\pm}\nu_{\tau}$ in 13 TeV $pp$ collisions with the ATLAS detector
/ Aad, Georges (Marseille, CPPM) ; Aakvaag, Erlend (Bergen U.) ; Abbott, Braden Keim (Oklahoma U.) ; Abdelhameed, Sara (New York U., Abu Dhabi) ; Abeling, Kira (Gottingen U., II. Phys. Inst.) ; Abicht, Nils Julius (Dortmund U.) ; Abidi, Haider (Brookhaven) ; Aboelela, Mohammed (Southern Methodist U.) ; Aboulhorma, Asmaa (Mohammed V U., Agdal) ; Abramowicz, Halina (Tel Aviv U.) et al.
Charged Higgs bosons produced either in top-quark decays or in association with a top-quark, subsequently decaying via $H^{\pm} \to \tau^{\pm}\nu_{\tau}$, are searched for in 140 $\text{fb}^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector. Depending on whether the top-quark produced together with the $H^{\pm}$ decays hadronically or semi-leptonically, the search targets $\tau$+jets or $\tau$+lepton final states, in both cases with a $\tau$-lepton decaying into a neutrino and hadrons. We report the observation of neutrino interactions without final state muons at the LHC, with a significance of 6.4\,$\sigma$. A data set of proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}= 13.6$\,TeV collected by \SND in 2022 and 2023 is used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 68.6\,fb$^{-1}$. [...]
