We evaluate the temperature effect on the X-ray radiation-induced luminescence (RIL) of differently doped silica fibers obtained via the sol-gel route. A characterization of radiophotoluminescence (RPL) dosimeters at high doses of X-ray radiation for applications in high-radiation areas is presented. Synchrotron high-energy X-rays were used in an attempt to estimate nanoprecipitate size and size distribution in Nb$_3$Sn powder-in-tube wires with ZrO$_2$ or HfO$_2$ rtificial pinning centers via small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS).
