A prototype with Xenon to simulate the future advance refrigeration unit for cooling of silicon detector trackers / Contiero, Luca (Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (NO)) ; Hafner, Armin (Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (NO)) ; Banasiak, Krzysztof (Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (NO)) ; Verlaat, Bart (CERN) ; Petagna, Paolo (CERN) ; Allouche, Yosr (Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (NO))
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will soon undergo the Phase III Upgrade, resulting in radiation levels never achieved before. Therefore, both the detector cooling system and mechanical supports for future particle trackers should also be upgraded, as the current refrigeration technology using CO₂ is insufficient to prevent the thermal runaway of silicon sensors due to the CO₂ triple point temperature (≈ -56°C). Production of $^{{129} \textrm{m}}$Xe and $^{{131} \textrm{m}}$Xe via neutron activation of $^{128}$Xe and $^{130}$Xe at ILL-RHF and NCBJ-MARIA high-flux reactors / Chojnacki, M (CERN ; Geneva U.) ; Kulesz, K (CERN ; Geneva U.) ; Michelon, I (CERN ; INFN, Padua) ; Azaryan, N (CERN ; Mickiewicz U., Poznan) ; Barbero, E (CERN) ; Crepieux, B (CERN) ; Lica, R (CERN ; Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Murawski, Ł (NCBJ, Swierk) ; Ziemba, M (NCBJ, Swierk) ; Piersa-Siłkowska, M (CERN) et al.
The long-lived xenon isomers $^{{129} \textrm{m}}$Xe and $^{{131} \textrm{m}}$Xe are of interest for the GAMMA-MRI project, which aims at developing a novel imaging modality based on magnetic resonance of polarized unstable tracers. Here, we present the steps leading to and following the production of these two isomers via neutron irradiation of highly-enriched  $^{128}$Xe and $^{130}$Xe gas samples at two high-flux reactors, the High-Flux Reactor (Réacteur à haut flux, RHF) at the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) and the MARIA reactor at the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ). Correlations between flow and transverse momentum in <math><mrow><mi>Xe</mi><mo>+</mo><mi>Xe</mi></mrow></math> and <math><mrow><mi>Pb</mi><mo>+</mo><mi>Pb</mi></mrow></math> collisions at the LHC with the ATLAS detector: A probe of the heavy-ion initial state and nuclear deformation / ATLAS Collaboration
The correlations between flow harmonics $v_n$ for $n=2$, 3 and 4 and mean transverse momentum $[p_\mathrm{T}]$ in $^{129}$Xe+$^{129}$Xe and $^{208}$Pb+$^{208}$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=5.44$ TeV and 5.02 TeV, respectively, are measured using charged particles with the ATLAS detector. The correlations are sensitive to the shape and size of the initial geometry, nuclear deformation, and initial momentum anisotropy. [...]

Isotope Shift of Nuclear Magnetic Resonances in 129Xe and 131Xe Caused by Spin-Exchange Pumping by Alkali Metal Atoms / Petrov, Vladimir I (Unlisted, RU) ; Pazgalev, Anatoly S (Ioffe Phys. Tech. Inst.) ; Vershovskii, Anton K (Ioffe Phys. Tech. Inst.)
The effect of isotope shifts of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) frequency in xenon isotopes $^{129}$Xe and $^{131}$Xe polarized by optically-oriented alkali metal atoms is not only of fundamental interest, but also of practical significance, since it is the main factor limiting the accuracy of a whole class of prospective navigation and metrological devices. Our study of the parametric dependences of the isotope shift has shown that this effect is largely due to incomplete averaging of an inhomogeneous local magnetic field by two xenon isotopes, and therefore, its value can be influenced by applying an external magnetic field gradient. Applications and Perspectives of Ultrasonic Multi-Gas Analysis with Simultaneous Flowmetry / Hallewell, Gregory (Marseille, CPPM) ; Dingley, John (Swansea U.) ; Doubek, Martin (CERN) ; Feuillassier, Robin (Aix-Marseille U.) ; Katunin, Sergey (St. Petersburg, INP) ; Nagai, Koichi (Oxford U.) ; Robinson, David (Cambridge U.) ; Rozanov, Alexandre (Marseille, CPPM) ; Williams, David (Swansea U.) ; Vacek, Vaclav (Prague, Tech. U., Mech. Eng.)
We have developed ultrasonic instrumentation for simultaneous flow and composition measurement in a variety of gas mixtures. Flow and composition are respectively derived from measurements of the difference and average of sound transit times in opposite directions in a flowing process gas. [...]

SEE Tests With Ultra Energetic Xe Ion Beam in the CHARM Facility at CERN / Fernández-Martínez, Pablo (CERN) ; García Alía, Rubén (CERN) ; Cecchetto, Matteo (CERN) ; Kastriotou, Maria (CERN) ; Kerboub, Nourdine (CERN) ; Tali, Maris (CERN) ; Wyrwoll, Vanessa (CERN) ; Brugger, Markus (CERN) ; Cangialosi, Chiara (CERN) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) et al.
Taking advantage of the heavy ion acceleration program, tests on radiation effects with Ultrahigh Energy (UHE) xenon ion beams (with Energy > 5 GeV/nucleon) have been performed in several experimental areas of the CERN accelerator complex. Specifically, the outcomes of the first UHE heavy ion test campaign carried out at the CHARM facility are presented and discussed in this contribution. [...]

Characterizing High-Energy Ion Beams With PIPS Detectors / Bagatin, M (Padua U.) ; Ferlet-Cavrois, V (ESTEC, Noordwijk) ; Gerardin, S (Padua U.) ; Muschitiello, M (ESTEC, Noordwijk) ; Paccagnella, A (Padua U.) ; Costantino, A (ESTEC, Noordwijk) ; Santin, G (ESTEC, Noordwijk) ; Polo, C Boatella (ESTEC, Noordwijk) ; Garcia Alía, R (CERN) ; Fernandez Martinez, P (CERN) et al.
The energy deposited by heavy-ion beams was measured using a passivated implanted planar silicon (PIPS) detector in different facilities. Ion beams at ultrahigh energy lead to the formation of a second, unexpected peak in the deposited energy spectrum at slightly higher energy, in addition to the expected primary peak. [...]
