LHCb Computing Resources: preliminary 2027 requests / Anderlini, Lucio (Universita e INFN, Firenze (IT)) ; Bozzi, Concezio (Universita e INFN, Ferrara (IT)) ; Couturier, Ben (CERN) ; van Eldik, Jan (CERN) ; Marin Benito, Carla (University of Barcelona (ES)) ; Perazzini, Stefano (Universita e INFN, Bologna (IT)) ; Robbe, Patrick (Université Paris-Saclay (FR)) ; Skidmore, Nicole (University of Warwick (GB)) ; Stahl, Sascha (CERN) ; Vesterinen, Mika Anton (University of Warwick (GB)) et al.
This document presents a preliminary estimate of the offline computing resources needed by LHCb in the 2027 WLCG year. The computing requests are based on the Computing Model Technical Design Report for the LHCb Upgrade [LHCb-TDR-018], adjusted to the current values of its main parameters, to the currently known LHC running schedule, to the current usage of computing resources, and to the expected activities to be performed by the LHCb experiment [...]

16th International Symposium on Frontiers of Fundamental Physics (FFP 2022) - FFP16 Frontiers of fundamental physics and physics education research FFP 2022   23-26 May 2022  - Online  / Sidharth, Burra (ed.); Michelini, Marisa (ed.); Aydiner, Ekrem (ed.); Corda, Christian (ed.)
In a knowledge-based society, research into fundamental physics plays a vital role not only in the enhancement of human knowledge but also in the development of new technology that affects everday life. The international symposium series Frontiers of Fundamental Physics (FFP) regularly brings together eminent scholars and researchers working in various areas in physics to exchange expertise, ideas, results, and new research perspectives. The twelfth such symposium, FFP12, took place at the University of Udine, Italy, and covered diverse fields of research: astrophysics, high energy physics and particle physics, theoretical physics, gravitation and cosmology, condensed matter physics, statistical physics, computational physics, and mathematical physics. Orchestrating Quasi-Real Time Data Processing in the Computing Farm of the ATLAS Experiment at CERN / Avolio, Giuseppe (CERN) /ATLAS Collaboration
What has Kubernetes got to do with a High Energy Physics experiment collecting one million physics events per second at a data rate of 5 TB/s? That is what we would like to show you! The ATLAS experiment at CERN filters one million complex collision signatures per second provided by the Large Hadron Collider in quasi real-time, using a mixture of custom electronics and a large computing farm (the Event Filter – EF – farm) consisting of up to 5000 commodity servers. In this talk, we will tell you how we are going to exploit Kubernetes to orchestrate the ATLAS EF computing farm. [...]
