Evaluating the Electro-Magnetic Effects of Electrical Short-Circuits in a Nb-Ti Accelerator Magnet / Reynaud, V (CERN ; Polytech. Turin) ; Farinon, S (INFN, Genoa) ; Janitschke, M (CERN ; U. Rostock) ; Ravaioli, E (CERN) ; Verweij, A P (CERN) ; Willering, G (CERN) ; van Rienen, U (U. Rostock)
Electrical short-circuits in the coil winding pack of a superconducting magnet can severely impact the magnet's performance and safety during operation. Hence, finding ways to detect and assess these non-conformities is essential. [...]

Real-time processing of longitudinal Schottky signals in CERN’s antiproton chain / Niccolini, Marco (CERN) ; Barrientos, Diego (CERN) ; Suminski, Maciej (CERN) ; Angoletta, Maria Elena (CERN) ; Soderen, Martin (CERN) ; Freyermuth, Pierre (CERN) ; Brischetto, Ylenia (CERN)
A low-latency, real-time diagnostic system for the analysis of longitudinal Schottky signals in CERN’s antiproton chain has been developed. The system, installed in CERN’s Antiproton Decelerator (AD), processes the combined output of two low-noise, wideband AC beam transformers. [...]

Impact of second-order chromaticity on the Schottky spectra of bunched beam / Lasocha, Kacper (CERN) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN) ; Lannoy, Christophe (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Mounet, Nicolas (CERN)
Observation of Schottky signals provides information on important beam and machine parameters, such as transverse emittance, betatron tune, and first-order chromaticity. However, the so-far developed theory of Schottky spectra does not include the impact of the higher-order chromaticity, known to be non-negligible in the case of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). [...]

The PSI Positron Production experiment, known as $\text{P}^{3}$ or $\textit{P-cubed}$, is a proof-of-principle positron source and capture system that can greatly improve the state-of-the-art positron yield. The $\text{P}^{3}$ project is led by the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland, and addresses the long-standing challenge faced by conventional injector facilities to generate, capture, and damp the emittance of high-current positron beam, which is a major limiting factor for the feasibility of future electron-positron colliders. Schottky monitors can be used for non-invasive beam diagnostics to estimate various bunch characteristics, such as tune, chromaticity, bunch profile or synchrotron frequency distribution. However, collective effects, in particular beam-coupling impedance, can significantly affect Schottky spectra when large bunch charges are involved. [...]
