Geant4 electromagnetic physics for Run3 and Phase2 LHC
/ Hahnfeld, Jonas (CERN) ; Ivanchenko, Vladimir (CERN ; Princeton U.) ; Novak, Mihaly (CERN) ; Pandola, Luciano (INFN, Catania) ; Sawkey, Daren (Varian Assoc., Palo Alto)
For the new Geant4 series 11.X, the electromagnetic (EM) physics sub-libraries were revised and reorganized in view of requirements for simulation of Phase-2 LHC experiments. EM physics simulation takes a significant fraction of the available CPU during massive production of Monte Carlo events for LHC experiments. [...]

Proton reconstruction with the TOTEM Roman pot detectors for high-$ \beta^* $ LHC data
/ Hayrapetyan, Aram (Yerevan Phys. Inst.) ; Tumasyan, Armen (Yerevan Phys. Inst.) ; Adam, Wolfgang (Vienna, OAW) ; Andrejkovic, Janik Walter (Vienna, OAW) ; Benato, Lisa (Vienna, OAW) ; Bergauer, Thomas (Vienna, OAW) ; Chatterjee, Suman (Vienna, OAW) ; Damanakis, Konstantinos (Vienna, OAW) ; Dragicevic, Marko (Vienna, OAW) ; Hussain, Priya Sajid (Vienna, OAW) et al.
The TOTEM Roman pot detectors are used to reconstruct the transverse momentum of scattered protons and to estimate the transverse location of the primary interaction. This paper presents new methods of track reconstruction, measurements of strip-level detection efficiencies, cross-checks of the LHC beam optics, and detector alignment techniques, along with their application in the selection of signal collision events. Nonresonant central exclusive production of charged-hadron pairs in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV
/ CMS and TOTEM Collaboration
The central exclusive production of charged-hadron pairs in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV is examined, based on data collected in a special high-$ \beta^* $ run of the LHC. The nonresonant continuum processes are studied with the invariant mass of the centrally produced two-pion system in the resonance-free region, $ m_{\pi^{+}\pi^{-}} < $ 0.7 GeV or $ m_{\pi^{+}\pi^{-}} > $ 1.8 GeV. A Geant4-based simulation study for a preliminary setup of the MUonE experiment
/ Asenov, Patrick (INFN, Perugia ; CNR IRPI, Perugia) ; Abbiendi, Giovanni (INFN, Bologna) ; Goncerz, Mateusz (Cracow, INP) ; Ivanchenko, Vladimir (CERN) ; Kucharczyk, Marcin (Cracow, INP) ; Loukas, Dimitrios (Democritos Nucl. Res. Ctr.) ; Marconi, Umberto (INFN, Bologna) ; Matteuzzi, Clara (INFN, Milan Bicocca) ; Zdybal, Milosz (Cracow, INP)
MUonE is a proposed experiment which aims at an independent and precise determination of the leading hadronic contribution to the muon $g-2$, based on the measurement of the hadronic running of the electromagnetic coupling in the space-like region. This can be achieved by measuring with extremely high accuracy the shape of the differential cross section of the $\mu e$ elastic scattering, using a 160$\,$GeV muon beam available at CERN, off atomic electrons of a light target. Geant4 simulation model of electromagnetic processes in oriented crystals for accelerator physics
/ Sytov, Alexei (INFN, Ferrara ; KISTI, Daejeon) ; Bandiera, Laura (INFN, Ferrara) ; Cho, Kihyeon (KISTI, Daejeon) ; Hwang, Soonwook (KISTI, Daejeon) ; Cirrone, Giuseppe Antonio Pablo (INFN, LNS) ; Pandola, Luciano (INFN, LNS) ; Guatelli, Susanna (Wollongong U.) ; Rosenfeld, Anatoly (Wollongong U.) ; Haurylavets, Viktar (Minsk, Inst. Nucl. Problems) ; Tikhomirov, Victor (Minsk, Inst. Nucl. Problems) et al.
Electromagnetic processes of charged particles interaction with oriented crystals provide a wide variety of innovative applications such as beam steering, crystal-based extraction/collimation of leptons and hadrons in an accelerator, a fixed-target experiment on magnetic and electric dipole moment measurement, X-ray and gamma radiation source for radiotherapy and nuclear physics and a positron source for lepton and muon colliders, a compact crystalline calorimeter as well as plasma acceleration in the crystal media. One of the main challenges is to develop an up-to-date, universal and fast simulation tool to simulate these applications. [...]
