The atomic nucleus as a window to new physics / Holt, Jason (speaker)
Answers to some of the most fundamental questions in science, such as the mass and character of the neutrino, the nature of dark matter, or the abundance of matter over antimatter, might very well reside in the physics of the atomic nucleus. As the role of nuclei in unraveling such mysteries continues to deepen, first-principles quantum simulations, beginning from only underlying nuclear/weak forces, are currently undergoing nothing short of a revolution. High-Precision Mass Measurements of Neutron Deficient Silver Isotopes Probe the Robustness of the <math display="inline"><mrow><mi>N</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>50</mn></mrow></math> Shell Closure / Ge, Zhuang (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Reponen, Mikael (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Eronen, Tommi (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Hu, Baishan (TRIUMF ; ORNL, Oak Ridge (main) ; Oak Ridge) ; Kortelainen, Markus (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Kankainen, Anu (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Moore, Iain (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Nesterenko, Dmitrii (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Yuan, Cenxi (SYSU, Guangzhou) ; Beliuskina, Olga (Jyvaskyla U.) et al.
High-precision mass measurements of exotic $^{95-97}$Ag isotopes close to the $N = Z$ line have been conducted with the JYFLTRAP double Penning trap mass spectrometer, with the silver ions produced using the recently commissioned inductively-heated hot cavity catcher laser ion source at the Ion Guide Isotope Separator On-Line facility. The atomic mass of $^{95}$Ag was directly determined for the first time. [...]

Opportunities for Fundamental Physics Research with Radioactive Molecules / Arrowsmith-Kron, Gordon (Michigan State U.) ; Athanasakis-Kaklamanakis, Michail (CERN ; Leuven U.) ; Au, Mia (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Ballof, Jochen (CERN ; Michigan State U.) ; Berger, Robert (Philipps U. Marburg) ; Borschevsky, Anastasia (U. Groningen, VSI) ; Breier, Alexander A. (Kassel U.) ; Buchinger, Fritz (McGill U.) ; Budker, Dmitry (Darmstadt, GSI ; UC, Berkeley) ; Caldwell, Luke (JILA, Boulder ; U. Colorado, Boulder ; Colorado U.) et al.
Molecules containing short-lived, radioactive nuclei are uniquely positioned to enable a wide range of scientific discoveries in the areas of fundamental symmetries, astrophysics, nuclear structure, and chemistry. Recent advances in the ability to create, cool, and control complex molecules down to the quantum level, along with recent and upcoming advances in radioactive species production at several facilities around the world, create a compelling opportunity to coordinate and combine these efforts to bring precision measurement and control to molecules containing extreme nuclei. Proton-neutron pairing correlations in the self-conjugate nucleus $^{42}$Sc / Koszorus, Agota (Liverpool U.) ; Vormawah, Liam (Liverpool U.) ; Beerwerth, Randolf (Helmholtz Inst., Jena) ; Bissell, Mark (Manchester U.) ; Campbell, Paul (Manchester U.) ; Cheal, Bradley (Liverpool U.) ; Devlin, Charlie (Liverpool U.) ; Eronen, Tommi (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Fritzsche, Stephan (Helmholtz Inst., Jena) ; Geldhof, Sarina (Jyvaskyla U. ; Leuven U.) et al.
Collinear laser spectroscopy of the $N=Z=21$ self-conjugate nucleus $^{42}$Sc has been performed at the JYFL IGISOL IV facility in order to determine the change in nuclear mean-square charge radius between the $I^{\pi}=0^{+}$ ground state and the $I^{\pi}=7^{+}$ isomer via the measurement of the $^{42\mathrm{g},42\mathrm{m}}$Sc isomer shift. New multi-configurational Dirac-Fock calculations for the atomic mass shift and field shift factors have enabled a recalibration of the charge radii of the $^{42-46}$Sc isotopes which were measured previously.
