The Muon Portal Project: Commissioning of the full detector and first results / Riggi, F (Catania U. ; INFN, Catania) ; Antonuccio, V (INAF, Catania) ; Bandieramonte, M (CERN) ; Becciani, U (INAF, Catania) ; Bonanno, G (INAF, Catania) ; Bonanno, D L (INFN, Catania ; Catania U.) ; Bongiovanni, D (INFN, Catania ; Catania U.) ; Fallica, P G ; Gallo, G (Catania U. ; INFN, Catania) ; Garozzo, S (INAF, Catania) et al.
The Muon Portal Project has built a prototype of a real size detector (6 m $\times$ 3 m $\times$ 7 m) for the inspection of containers by muon tomography. This technique may provide 2D and 3D images of the interior of a container, to identify the presence of high-$Z$ materials. [...]

Cosmic ray tomography is a technique which exploits the multiple Coulomb scattering of highly penetrating cosmic ray-produced muons to perform non-destructive inspection of high-Z materials without the use of artificial radiation. A muon tomography detection system can be used as a portal monitor at border crossing points for detecting illegal targeted objects. [...]

Results with microstrip detectors produced by STMicroelectronics for the CMS tracker / Segneri, G ; Borrello, L ; Dell'Orso, R ; Dutta, S ; Fallica, P G ; Mariani, M ; Messineo, A ; Starodumov, A ; Teodorescu, L ; Tonelli, G et al.
The paper presents the results of an extensive set of measurements performed on silicon microstrip sensors produced by STMicroelectronics for the CMS Tracker. 5'' and 6'' technologies were used to process several series of detector prototypes. [...]
