Variations in the charge radii of indium isotopes between $N$ = 52 and 82
/ CRIS-ISOLDE Collaboration
Measurements of the 5$\mathrm{p}$ $^2P_{3/2}$ $\to$ $9_s$ $^2 S_{1/2}$ and 5$\mathrm{p}$ $^2P_{1/2}$ $\to$ $8_s$ $^2 S_{1/2}$ transitions in the indium atom, combined with new atomic physics calculations, were used to extract the changes in mean-square nuclear charge radii, $\delta$($r^2$), of the indium (Z = 49) isotopes $^{101-111}$In, $^{113-123}$In, and $^{125-131}$In. With a proton hole in the closed nuclear shell of Z = 50, indium provides a detailed study of the effect of unpaired nucleons adjacent to the proton-shell closure, allowing investigation into the charge radii for isotopes between the two major neutron-shell closures at N = 50 and N = 82. We employed laser spectroscopy of atomic transitions to measure the nuclear charge radii and electromagnetic properties of the high-spin isomeric states in neutron-rich indium isotopes (Z = 49) near the closed proton and neutron shells at Z = 50 and N = 82. Our data reveal a reduction in the nuclear charge radius and intrinsic quadrupole moment when protons and neutrons are fully aligned in 129In(N = 80), to form the high spin isomer. [...]

/ Bai, S.W. (Peking U., SKLNPT) ; Yang, X.F. (Peking U., SKLNPT) ; Koszorús, Á. (Leuven U.) ; Berengut, J.C. (New South Wales U.) ; Billowes, J. (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M.L. Nuclear charge radii of neutron-rich $^{47-49}$Sc isotopes were measured using collinear laser spectroscopy at CERN-ISOLDE. The new data reveal that the charge radii of scandium isotopes exhibit a distinct trend between $N=20$ and $N=28$, with $^{41}$Sc and $^{49}$Sc isotopes having similar values, mirroring the closeness of the charge radii of $^{40}$Ca and $^{48}$Ca. The magnetic dipole and the spectroscopic quadrupole moments of the nuclear ground states in the odd-mass nickel isotopes $^{59-67}$Ni have been determined using collinear laser spectroscopy at the CERN-ISOLDE facility. They are compared to ab initio valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group (VS-IMSRG) calculations including contributions of two-body currents as well as to shell-model calculations. Nuclear charge radii of germanium isotopes around $N$ = 40
/ Wang, S.J. (Peking U., SKLNPT) ; Kanellakopoulos, A. (Leuven U.) ; Yang, X.F. (Peking U., SKLNPT ; Leuven U.) ; Bai, S.W. (Peking U., SKLNPT) ; Billowes, J. (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M.L. Collinear laser spectroscopy measurements were performed on $^{68-74}$Ge isotopes ($Z = 32$) at ISOLDE-CERN, by probing the $4s^2 4p^2 \, ^3\!P_1 \rightarrow 4s^2 4p 5s \, ^3\!P_1^o$ atomic transition (269~nm) of germanium. Nuclear charge radii are determined via the measured isotope shifts, revealing a larger local variation than the neighboring isotopic chains. [...]

Benchmark evaluation of a single frequency continuous wave OPO seeded pulsed dye amplifier for high-resolution laser spectroscopy
/ Urquiza-González, M (Unlisted, DE) ; Au, M (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Bernerd, C (Leuven U.) ; Bissell, M (Manchester U.) ; van den Borne, B (Leuven U.) ; Chrysalidis, K (CERN) ; Cocolios, T E (Leuven U.) ; Fedosseev, V N (CERN) ; Flanagan, K T (Manchester U.) ; Garcia Ruiz, R G (MIT) et al.
The study of the atomic spectrum via resonant laser excitation provides access to underlying effects caused by the nuclear structure, which is of special interest in short-lived radioisotopes produced at Isotope Separator On-Line (ISOL) facilities. Current implementations of resonant laser ionization techniques often limit the extraction of the nuclear observables due to the low spectral resolution of the pulsed laser systems deployed. [...]
