Constraints for nuclear PDFs from the LHCb D-meson data / Eskola, Kari J. (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki U.) ; Helenius, Ilkka (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki U.) ; Paakkinen, Petja (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki U.) ; Paukkunen, Hannu (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki U.)
We quantify the impact of LHCb D-meson measurements at $\sqrt{s}=5 \, {\rm TeV}$ on the EPPS16 and nCTEQ15 nuclear PDFs. In our study, the theoretical description of D-meson production is based on the recently developed SACOT-$m_{\rm T}$ variant of the general-mass variable-flavour-number formalism, and the impact on PDFs is estimated via reweighting methods. Nuclear suppression in inelastic nucleon-nucleon cross section / Helenius, Ilkka (speaker) (University of Jyväskylä)
In high-energy heavy-ion collisions the standard procedure to turn the measured hard-process yields into centrality dependent cross sections is to use normalization factors calculated with the Monte-Carlo Glauber model. Canonically it is assumed that a necessary input, the inelastic nucleon-nucleon cross section, is unmodified wrt. [...]

The Large Hadron-Electron Collider at the HL-LHC / FCC-he Study Group Collaboration
The Large Hadron electron Collider, LHeC, is the means to move deep inelastic physics following HERA to the energy frontier of particle physics as it is being exploited by the HL-LHC. The paper presents a thorough update of the initial LHeC Conceptual Design Report (CDR) published in 2012. [...]

A QCD analysis of LHCb D-meson data in p+Pb collisions / Eskola, Kari J. (Helsinki U. ; Jyvaskyla U.) ; Helenius, Ilkka (Helsinki U. ; Jyvaskyla U.) ; Paakkinen, Petja (Helsinki U. ; Jyvaskyla U.) ; Paukkunen, Hannu (Helsinki U. ; Jyvaskyla U.)
We scrutinize the recent LHCb data for D$^0$-meson production in p+Pb collisions within a next-to-leading order QCD framework. Our calculations are performed in the SACOT-$m_{\rm T}$ variant of the general-mass variable-flavour-number scheme (GM-VFNS), which has previously been shown to provide a realistic description of the LHC p+p data. Report from Working Group 5 : Future physics opportunities for high-density QCD at the LHC with heavy-ion and proton beams / Citron, Z. (Ben Gurion U. of Negev) ; Dainese, A. (INFN, Padua) ; Grosse-Oetringhaus, J.F. (CERN) ; Jowett, J.M. (CERN) ; Lee, Y.-J. (MIT) ; Wiedemann, U.A. (CERN) ; Winn, M. (AIM, Saclay ; Orsay, LAL) ; Andronic, A. (Munster U.) ; Bellini, F. (CERN) ; Bruna, E. (INFN, Turin) et al.
The future opportunities for high-density QCD with ion and proton beams at the LHC are presented. Four major scientific goals are identified: the characterisation of the macroscopic long wavelength Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) properties with unprecedented precision, the investigation of the microscopic parton dynamics underlying QGP properties, the development of a unified picture of particle production and QCD dynamics from small (pp) to large (nucleus–nucleus) systems, the exploration of parton densities in nuclei in a broad (x, Q2) kinematic range and the search for the possible onset of parton saturation. Predictions for cold nuclear matter effects on charged hadrons, identified light hadrons, quarkonium and heavy flavor hadrons, Drell-Yan dileptons, jets, photons, gauge bosons and top quarks produced in $p+$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 8.16$ TeV are compiled and, where possible, compared to each other. Predictions of the normalized ratios of $p+$Pb to $p+p$ cross sections are also presented for most of the observables, providing new insights into the expected role of cold nuclear matter effects.
