Initial conditions for inflation and the energy scale of SUSY-breaking from the (nearly) gaussian sky
/ Álvarez-Gaumé, Luis (CERN) ; Gómez, César (Madrid, Autonoma U. ; Madrid, IFT) ; Jimenez, Raul (ICC, Barcelona U. ; ICREA, Barcelona)
We show how general initial conditions for small field inflation can be obtained in multi-field models. This is provided by non-linear angular friction terms in the inflaton that provide a phase of non-slow-roll inflation before the slow-roll inflation phase. [...]

Black Holes as Critical Point of Quantum Phase Transition
/ Dvali, Gia (Munich U., ASC ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; CERN ; New York U., CCPP) ; Gomez, Cesar (Munich U., ASC ; Madrid, IFT)
We reformulate the quantum black hole portrait in the language of modern condensed matter physics. We show that black holes can be understood as a graviton Bose-Einstein condensate at the critical point of a quantum phase transition, identical to what has been observed in systems of cold atoms. [...]

Black Hole Quantum Mechanics in the Presence of Species
/ Dvali, Gia (New York U., CCPP ; CERN ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; Munich U., ASC) ; Gomez, Cesar (Madrid, IFT ; Munich U., ASC) ; Lust, Dieter (Munich U., ASC ; Munich U. ; Munich, Max Planck Inst.)
Recently within the context of a microscopic quantum theory, the Black Hole's Quantum N-Portrait, it was shown that continuous global symmetries are compatible with quantum black hole physics. In the present paper we revise within the same framework the semi-classical black hole bound on the number of particle species N_{species}. [...]

Ultra-High Energy Probes of Classicalization
/ Dvali, Gia (Munich U., ASC ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; CERN ; New York U., CCPP) ; Gomez, Cesar (Munich U., ASC ; Madrid, IFT)
Classicalizing theories are characterized by a rapid growth of the scattering cross section. This growth converts these sort of theories in interesting probes for ultra-high energy experiments even at relatively low luminosity, such as cosmic rays or Plasma Wakefield accelerators. [...]

Black Hole's 1/N Hair
/ Dvali, Gia (Munich U., ASC ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; New York U., CCPP ; CERN) ; Gomez, Cesar (Munich U., ASC ; Madrid, IFT)
According to the standard view classically black holes carry no hair, whereas quantum hair is at best exponentially weak. We show that suppression of hair is an artifact of the semi-classical treatment and that in the quantum picture hair appears as an inverse mass-square effect. [...]

Landau-Ginzburg Limit of Black Hole's Quantum Portrait: Self Similarity and Critical Exponent
/ Dvali, Gia (Munich U., ASC ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; CERN ; New York U., CCPP) ; Gomez, Cesar (Munich U., ASC ; Madrid, IFT)
Recently we have suggested that the microscopic quantum description of a black hole is an overpacked self-sustained Bose-condensate of N weakly-interacting soft gravitons, which obeys the rules of 't Hooft's large-N physics. In this note we derive an effective Landau-Ginzburg Lagrangian for the condensate and show that it becomes an exact description in a semi-classical limit that serves as the black hole analog of 't Hooft's planar limit. Black Hole's Quantum N-Portrait
/ Dvali, Gia (CERN ; New York U., CCPP ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; Munich U., ASC) ; Gomez, Cesar (Madrid, IFT)
We establish a quantum measure of classicality in the form of the occupation number, $N$, of gravitons in a gravitational field. This allows us to view classical background geometries as quantum Bose-condensates with large occupation numbers of soft gravitons. [...]
