A resummed method of moments for the relativistic hydrodynamic expansion / Tinti, L. (Ohio State U. ; Frankfurt U.) ; Vujanovic, G. (Ohio State U.) ; Noronha, J. (Sao Paulo U.) ; Heinz, U. (Ohio State U. ; CERN ; Darmstadt, EMMI)
The relativistic method of moments is one of the most successful approaches to extract second order viscous hydrodynamics from a kinetic underlying background. The equations can be systematically improved to higher order, and they have already shown a fast convergence to the kinetic results. [...]

Thermalization & hydrodynamics in Bjorken & Gubser flows / Chattopadhyay, Chandrodoy (Tata Inst.) ; Heinz, Ulrich (Ohio State U. ; Darmstadt, EMMI ; CERN) ; Pal, Subrata (Tata Inst.) ; Vujanovic, Gojko (Ohio State U.)
The dynamical scaling behavior of hydrodynamic and non-hydrodynamic moments of the distribution function is studied using third-order Chapman-Enskog hydrodynamics and anisotropic hydrodynamics for systems undergoing Bjorken and Gubser expansions, where exact solutions of the Boltzmann equation in Relaxation Time Approximation (RTA) are available for comparison. While dimensionless quantities like normalized shear, pressure anisotropy and normalized entropy show at late times universal scaling relations with small (large) Knudsen number for Bjorken (Gubser) flows, dimensionful quantities like the entropy per unit rapidity do not. Hybrid model with dynamical sources for heavy-ion collisions at BES energies / Du, Lipei (Ohio State U.) ; Heinz, Ulrich (Ohio State U. ; CERN ; Darmstadt, EMMI) ; Vujanovic, Gojko (Ohio State U.)
We develop a (3+1)-dimensional hybrid evolution model for heavy-ion collisions with dynamical sources for the energy-momentum tensor and baryon current. During an initial pre-equilibrium stage based on UrQMD, the four-momenta and baryon numbers carried by secondary particles created within UrQMD are fed continuously, after a short thermalization time, into a (3+1)-dimensional viscous hydrodynamic evolution module including baryon transport. Report from Working Group 5 : Future physics opportunities for high-density QCD at the LHC with heavy-ion and proton beams / Citron, Z. (Ben Gurion U. of Negev) ; Dainese, A. (INFN, Padua) ; Grosse-Oetringhaus, J.F. (CERN) ; Jowett, J.M. (CERN) ; Lee, Y.-J. (MIT) ; Wiedemann, U.A. (CERN) ; Winn, M. (AIM, Saclay ; Orsay, LAL) ; Andronic, A. (Munster U.) ; Bellini, F. (CERN) ; Bruna, E. (INFN, Turin) et al.
The future opportunities for high-density QCD with ion and proton beams at the LHC are presented. Four major scientific goals are identified: the characterisation of the macroscopic long wavelength Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) properties with unprecedented precision, the investigation of the microscopic parton dynamics underlying QGP properties, the development of a unified picture of particle production and QCD dynamics from small (pp) to large (nucleus–nucleus) systems, the exploration of parton densities in nuclei in a broad (x, Q2) kinematic range and the search for the possible onset of parton saturation. Resummed hydrodynamic expansion for a plasma of particles interacting with fields / Tinti, L. (Ohio State U. ; Frankfurt U.) ; Vujanovic, G. (Ohio State U.) ; Noronha, J. (Sao Paulo U.) ; Heinz, U. (CERN)
A novel description of kinetic theory dynamics is proposed in terms of resummed moments that embed information of both hydrodynamic and non-hydrodynamic modes. The resulting expansion can be used to extend hydrodynamics to higher orders in a consistent and numerically efficient way; at lowest order it reduces to an Israel-Stewart-like theory. [...]

On higher order and anisotropic hydrodynamics for Bjorken and Gubser flows / Chattopadhyay, Chandrodoy (Tata Inst.) ; Heinz, Ulrich (Ohio State U. ; CERN) ; Pal, Subrata (Tata Inst.) ; Vujanovic, Gojko (Ohio State U.)
We study the evolution of hydrodynamic and non-hydrodynamic moments of the distribution function using anisotropic and third-order Chapman-Enskog hydrodynamics for systems undergoing Bjorken and Gubser flows. The hydrodynamic results are compared with the exact solution of the Boltzmann equation with a collision term in relaxation time approximation. [...]
