Giving wake to energy-energy correlators: Hydrodynamic response on the celestial sphere / Barata, João (CERN) ; Kuzmin, Matvey V. (Lomonosov Moscow State U.) ; Milhano, José Guilherme (LIP, Lisbon ; Lisbon, CENTRA ; Lisbon, IST ; U. Lisbon (main)) ; Sadofyev, Andrey V. (LIP, Lisbon)
The observation of the medium response generated by the propagation of high energy partons in the quark gluon plasma produced in heavy-ion collisions would provide a clear and unmistakable evidence for the hydrodynamic behavior of the bulk. Recently, it has been argued that the features of the medium's back-reaction to the jet could be cleanly imprinted in the correlations of asymptotic energy flows, in principle allowing to isolate this signal from other uncorrelated physical processes. Novel tools and observables for jet physics in heavy-ion collisions / Andrews, Harry Arthur (Birmingham U.) ; d'Enterria, David (CERN) ; Apolinario, Liliana (CMAF, Lisbon ; Lisbon, IST) ; Bertens, Redmer Alexander (Tennessee U.) ; Bierlich, Christian (Lund U. ; Bohr Inst.) ; Cacciari, Matteo (Diderot U., Paris ; Paris, LPTHE) ; Chen, Yi (CERN) ; Chien, Yang-Ting (MIT, Cambridge, CTP) ; Mendez, Leticia Cunqueiro (Oak Ridge ; Tennessee U.) ; Deak, Michal (Cracow, INP) et al.
Studies of fully-reconstructed jets in heavy-ion collisions aim at extracting thermodynamical and transport properties of hot and dense QCD matter. Recently, a plethora of new jet substructure observables have been theoretically and experimentally developed that provide novel precise insights on the modifications of the parton radiation pattern induced by a QCD medium. Factorization of in-medium parton branching beyond the eikonal approximation / Apolinário, Liliana (LIP, Lisbon) ; Armesto, Néstor (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Milhano, José Guilherme (LIP, Lisbon ; CERN) ; Salgado, Carlos A (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE)
The description of the in-medium modifications of partonic showers is at the forefront of current theoretical and experimental efforts in heavy-ion physics. The theory of jet quenching, a commonly used alias for the modifications of the parton branching resulting from the interactions with the QGP, has been significantly developed over the last years. [...]

Novel subjet observables for jet quenching in heavy-ion collisions / Apolinário, Liliana (LIP, Lisbon ; Lisbon, IST) ; Milhano, José Guilherme (LIP, Lisbon ; CERN) ; Ploskon, Mateusz (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Zhang, Xiaoming (CCNU, Wuhan, Inst. Part. Phys.)
Using a novel observable that relies on the momentum difference of the two most energetic subjets within a jet $\Delta S_{12}$ we study the internal structure of high-energy jets simulated by several Monte Carlo event generators that implement the partonic energy-loss in a dense partonic medium. Based on inclusive jet and di-jet production we demonstrate that $\Delta S_{12}$ is an effective tool to discriminate between different models of jet modifications over a broad kinematic range. [...]

Probing the time structure of the quark-gluon plasma with top quarks / Apolinário, Liliana (LIP, Lisbon ; Lisbon, IST) ; Milhano, José Guilherme (Lisbon, IST ; CERN ; LIP, Lisbon) ; Salam, Gavin P. (CERN) ; Salgado, Carlos A. (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE)
The tiny droplets of Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) created in high-energy nuclear collisions experience fast expansion and cooling with a lifetime of a few $\text{fm}/c$. Despite the information provided by probes such as jet quenching and quarkonium suppression, and the excellent description by hydrodynamical models, direct access to the time evolution of the system remains elusive. A Comprehensive Analysis of Jet Quenching via a Hybrid Strong/Weak Coupling Model for Jet-Medium Interactions / Casalderrey-Solana, Jorge (Barcelona U., ECM ; ICC, Barcelona U. ; Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Gulhan, Doga Can (MIT, LNS) ; Milhano, José Guilherme (Lisbon, CENTRA ; CERN) ; Pablos, Daniel (Barcelona U., ECM ; ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Rajagopal, Krishna (MIT, LNS)
Within a hybrid strong/weak coupling model for jets in strongly coupled plasma, we explore jet modifications in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions. Our approach merges the perturbative dynamics of hard jet evolution with the strongly coupled dynamics which dominates the soft exchanges between the fast partons in the jet shower and the strongly coupled plasma itself. The angular structure of jet quenching within a hybrid strong/weak coupling model / Casalderrey-Solana, Jorge (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Gulhan, Doga Can (CERN) ; Milhano, José Guilherme (LIP, Lisbon ; CERN) ; Pablos, Daniel (Barcelona U. ; ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Rajagopal, Krishna (MIT, Cambridge, CTP)
Building upon the hybrid strong/weak coupling model for jet quenching, we incorporate and study the effects of transverse momentum broadening and medium response of the plasma to jets on a variety of observables. For inclusive jet observables, we find little sensitivity to the strength of broadening. [...]

Sub-jet structure as a discriminating quenching probe / Zhang, Xiaoming (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Apolinário, Liliana (Lisbon, CENTRA) ; Milhano, José Guilherme (Lisbon, CENTRA ; CERN) ; Płoskoń, Mateusz (LBNL, Berkeley)
In this work, we propose a new class of jet substructure observables which, unlike fragmentation functions, are largely insensitive to the poorly known physics of hadronization. We show that sub-jet structures provide us with a large discriminating power between different jet quenching Monte Carlo implementations..

Origins of the di-jet asymmetry in heavy ion collisions / Milhano, José Guilherme (CERN ; Lisbon, CENTRA ; Lisbon, IST) ; Zapp, Korinna Christine (CERN ; Lisbon, CENTRA ; Lisbon, IST)
The di-jet asymmetry --- the measure of the momentum imbalance in a di-jet system --- is a key jet quenching observable. Using the event generator \jewel we show that the di-jet asymmetry is dominated by fluctuations both in proton-proton and in heavy ion collisions. [...]

We explore a novel hybrid model containing both strong and weak coupling physics for high energy jets traversing a deconfined medium. This model is based on supplementing a perturbative DGLAP shower with strongly coupled energy loss rate. [...]
