Development of the CMS detector for the CERN LHC Run 3 / CMS Collaboration
Since the initial data taking of the CERN LHC, the CMS experiment has undergone substantial upgrades and improvements. This paper discusses the CMS detector as it is configured for the third data-taking period of the CERN LHC, Run 3, which started in 2022. [...]

Comparative characterization study of LYSO:Ce crystals for timing applications / Addesa, Francesca Maria (Princeton U.) ; Barria, Patrizia (INFN, Rome) ; Bianco, Roberta (INFN, Rome) ; Campana, Mattia (INFN, Rome ; Rome U.) ; Cavallari, Francesca (INFN, Rome) ; Cemmi, A ; Cipriani, Marco (CERN) ; Dafinei, Ioan (INFN, Rome) ; Del Re, Daniele (INFN, Rome ; Rome U.) ; Diemoz, Marcella (INFN, Rome) et al.
Cerium-doped Lutetium-Yttrium Oxyorthosilicate (LYSO:Ce) is one of the most widely used Cerium-doped Lutetium based scintillation crystals. Initially developed for medical detectors it rapidly became attractive for High Energy Particle Physics (HEP) applications, especially in the frame of high luminosity particle colliders. [...]

A New Boson with a Mass of 125 GeV Observed with the CMS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider / CMS Collaboration
The Higgs boson was postulated nearly five decades ago within the framework of the standard model of particle physics and has been the subject of numerous searches at accelerators around the world. Its discovery would verify the existence of a complex scalar field thought to give mass to three of the carriers of the electroweak force—the W+, W–, and Z0 bosons—as well as to the fundamental quarks and leptons. [...]

Observation of a new boson at a mass of 125 GeV with the CMS experiment at the LHC / CMS Collaboration
Results are presented from searches for the standard model Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=7 and 8 TeV in the CMS experiment at the LHC, using data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of up to 5.1 inverse femtobarns at 7 TeV and 5.3 inverse femtobarns at 8 TeV. The search is performed in five decay modes: $\gamma\gamma$, ZZ, WW, $\tau^+ \tau^-$, and $b\bar{b}$. [...]

Search for the standard model Higgs boson decaying into two photons in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=7 TeV / CMS Collaboration
A search for a Higgs boson decaying into two photons is described. The analysis is performed using a dataset recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC from pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, which corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.8 inverse femtobarns. [...]

The CMS Barrel Calorimeter Response to Particle Beams from 2 to 350 GeV/c / CMS HCAL/ECAL Collaboration
The response of the CMS barrel calorimeter (electromagnetic plus hadronic) to hadrons, electrons and muons over a wide momentum range from 2 to 350 GeV/c has been measured. To our knowledge, this is the widest range of momenta in which any calorimeter system has been studied. [...]

Intercalibration of the barrel electromagnetic calorimeter of the CMS experiment at start-up / CMS ECAL Collaboration
Calibration of the relative response of the individual channels of the barrel electromagnetic calorimeter of the CMS detector was accomplished before installation with cosmic ray muons and test beams. One fourth of the calorimeter was exposed to a beam of high energy electrons and the relative calibration of the channels, the intercalibration, was found to be reproducible to a precision of about 0.3\%. Energy Resolution of the Barrel of the CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter / CMS Collaboration
The energy resolution of the barrel part of the CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter has been studied using electrons of 20 to 250 GeV in a test beam. The incident electron's energy was reconstructed by summing the energy measured in arrays of 3x3 or 5x5 channels. [...]
