ALICE upgrades during the LHC Long Shutdown 2 / ALICE Collaboration
A Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE) has been conceived and constructed as a heavy-ion experiment at the LHC. During LHC Runs 1 and 2, it has produced a wide range of physics results using all collision systems available at the LHC. [...]

System simulations for the ALICE ITS detector upgrade / Nesbo, Simon Voigt (HVL, Norway ; Bergen U.) ; Alme, Johan (Bergen U.) ; Bonora, Matthias (CERN) ; Giubilato, Piero (INFN, Padua ; Trento U. ; CERN) ; Helstrup, Håvard (HVL, Norway) ; Lupi, Matteo (CERN) ; Aglieri Rinella, Gianluca (CERN) ; Röhrich, Dieter (Bergen U.) ; Schambach, Joachim (Texas U.) ; Shahoyan, Ruben (CERN) et al.
The ALICE experiment at the CERN LHC will feature several upgrades for Run 3, one of which is a new Inner Tracking System (ITS). The ITS upgrade is currently under development and commissioning, and will be installed during the ongoing long shutdown 2.A number of factors will have an impact on the performance and readout efficiency of the ITS in run 3, and to that end, a simulation model of the readout logic in the ALPIDE pixel sensor chips for the ITS was developed, using the SystemC library for system level modeling in C++. Design of Finite State Machines for SRAM-based FPGAs operated in radiation field / Lupi, Matteo (Frankfurt U. ; CERN) ; Giubilato, Piero (INFN, Padua ; Turin U.) ; Bonora, Matthias (Salzburg U. ; CERN) ; Sielewicz, Krzysztof Marek (CERN ; Warsaw U. of Tech.)
For the CERN LHC Run 3, the ALICE experiment completely redesigned the Inner Tracking System (ITS), which now consists of seven cylindrical layers instrumented with 24 120 Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors, covering an area of 10m$^2$ . The ITS is controlled and read out by 192 custom Readout Units, which employ commercial SRAM-based FPGAs and will operate in a radiation field, requiring specific FPGA design to ensure system reliability. Measurement of electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays as a function of multiplicity in p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV / ALICE Collaboration
The multiplicity dependence of electron production from heavy-flavour hadron decays as a function of transverse momentum was measured in p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV using the ALICE detector at the LHC. The measurement was performed in the centre-of-mass rapidity interval $-1.07 < y_{\rm cms} < 0.14$ and transverse momentum interval 2 $< p_{\rm T} <$ 16 GeV/$c$. [...]

Scattering studies with low-energy kaon-proton femtoscopy in proton-proton collisions at the LHC / ALICE Collaboration
The study of the strength and behaviour of the antikaon-nucleon ($\rm \overline{K}$N) interaction constitutes one of the key focuses of the strangeness sector in low-energy Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). In this letter a unique high-precision measurement of the strong interaction between kaons and protons, close and above the kinematic threshold, is presented. [...]

First observation of an attractive interaction between a proton and a multi-strange baryon / ALICE Collaboration
This work presents the first experimental observation of the attractive strong interaction between a proton and a multi-strange baryon (hyperon) $\Xi^-$. The result is extracted from two-particle correlations of combined p-$\Xi^{-}$$\oplus$p-$\overline{\Xi}^{+}$ pairs measured in p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=5.02$ TeV at the LHC with ALICE. Production of muons from heavy-flavour hadron decays in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.02$ TeV / ALICE Collaboration
Production cross sections of muons from semi-leptonic decays of charm and beauty hadrons were measured at forward rapidity ($2.5<y<4$) in proton-proton (pp) collisions at a centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=5.02$ TeV with the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The results were obtained in an extended transverse momentum interval, $2 < p_{\rm T} < 20$ GeV/$c$, and with an improved precision compared to previous measurements performed in the same rapidity interval at centre-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s} = 2.76$ and 7 TeV. Measurement of charged jet cross section in pp collisions at ${\sqrt{s}=5.02}$ TeV / ALICE Collaboration
The cross section of jets reconstructed from charged particles is measured in the transverse momentum range of $5<p_\rm{T}<100\ \rm{GeV}/c$ in pp collisions at the center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 5.02\ \rm{TeV}$ with the ALICE detector. The jets are reconstructed using the anti-$k_\rm{T}$ algorithm with resolution parameters $R=0.2$, $0.3$, $0.4$, and $0.6$ in the pseudorapidity range $|\eta|< 0.9-R$. [...]

Coherent J/$\psi$ photoproduction at forward rapidity in ultra-peripheral Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}=5.02$ TeV / ALICE Collaboration
The coherent photoproduction of J/$\psi$ was measured in ultra-peripheral Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}~=~5.02$ TeV with the ALICE detector. The J/$\psi$ is detected via its dimuon decay in the forward rapidity region for events where the hadronic activity is required to be minimal. [...]
