The impact of thermal–hydraulic variation on tunnel long-term performance: a tale of two tunnels / Wang, Chao (University Coll., Cork ; University Coll., Dublin) ; Xiao, Zhipeng (University Coll., Cork ; CERN) ; Di Murro, Vanessa (CERN) ; Osborne, John (CERN) ; Friedman, Miles (CERN) ; Li, Zili (University Coll., Cork ; University Coll., Dublin)
Long-term structural performance of ageing tunnels is influenced by various natural and anthropogenic factors. This study examines the impacts of two rarely investigated climatic factors: rainfall and temperature [...]

Distributed fibre optic sensing and novel data processing method for tunnel circumferential deformation – A case study of an ageing tunnel at CERN / Xiao, Zhipeng (University Coll., Cork) ; Di Murro, Vanessa (CERN) ; Osborne, John Andrew (CERN) ; Zhu, Honghu (Nanjing Normal U.) ; Li, Zili (University Coll., Cork)
The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) is one of the largest nuclear research centres in the world, operating the most powerful particle accelerator housed in a massive 80 km-long underground tunnel network. Over the decades, regular site inspection has observed the ongoing development of structural defects, such as widened cracks, water infiltration and misalignment of the particle accelerator beamline caused by differential tunnel floor settlements. [...]

Search for millicharged particles in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13.6 TeV / Alcott, S. (UC, Santa Barbara) ; Bhatti, Z. (New York U.) ; Brooke, J. (Bristol U.) ; Campagnari, C. (Ohio State U., Columbus (main)) ; Carrigan, M. (Ohio State U., Columbus (main)) ; Citron, M. (UC, Davis) ; Santos, R. De Los (Ohio State U., Columbus (main)) ; De Roeck, A. (CERN) ; Dorofeev, C. (U. Oregon, Eugene (main)) ; Du, T. (Chicago U.) et al.
We report on a search for elementary particles with charges much smaller than the electron charge using a data sample of proton-proton collisions provided by the CERN Large Hadron Collider in 2023-24, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 124.7/fb at a center-of-mass energy of 13.6 TeV. The analysis presented uses the completed Run 3 milliQan bar detector to set the most stringent constraints to date for particles with charges ≤ 0.24 e and masses ≥.45 GeV..

CEPC Technical Design Report: Accelerator / CEPC Study Group Collaboration
The Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) is a large scientific project initiated and hosted by China, fostered through extensive collaboration with international partners. The complex comprises four accelerators: a 30 GeV Linac, a 1.1 GeV Damping Ring, a Booster capable of achieving energies up to 180 GeV, and a Collider operating at varying energy modes (Z, W, H, and ttbar). [...]

Hyperon Polarization along the Beam Direction Relative to the Second and Third Harmonic Event Planes in Isobar Collisions at <math display="inline"><mrow><msqrt><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>s</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>N</mi><mi>N</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></msqrt><mo>=</mo><mn>200</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GeV</mi></mrow></math> / STAR Collaboration
The polarization of $\Lambda$ and $\bar{\Lambda}$ hyperons along the beam direction has been measured relative to the second and third harmonic event planes in isobar Ru+Ru and Zr+Zr collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV. This is the first experimental evidence of the hyperon polarization by the triangular flow originating from the initial density fluctuations. [...]

Search for the chiral magnetic wave using anisotropic flow of identified particles at energies available at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider / STAR Collaboration
The chiral magnetic wave (CMW) has been theorized to propagate in the deconfined nuclear medium formed in high-energy heavy-ion collisions, and to cause a difference in elliptic flow ($v_{2}$) between negatively and positively charged hadrons. Experimental data consistent with the CMW have been reported by the STAR Collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), based on the charge asymmetry dependence of the pion $v_{2}$ from Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 27 to 200 GeV.
