/ Levi, F (INFN, Genoa) ; Alfonso, L (INFN, Genoa) ; Balconi, L (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Bersani, A (INFN, Genoa) ; Bottura, L (CERN) ; Caiffi, B (INFN, Genoa) ; Fabbri, S (CERN) ; Farinon, S (INFN, Genoa) ; Gagno, A (INFN, Genoa ; Genoa U.) ; Maiello, T (INFN, Genoa ; Genoa U.) et al.
To further explore the physics beyond the capabilities of the LHC and its High-Luminosity Upgrade (HL-LHC), particle physicists are studying advanced accelerators in order to perform finer measurements and/or reach higher energies. Upon the recommendation of the Updated European Strategy for Particle Physics (ESPP), an International Muon Collider Collaboration has been established to investigate the feasibility of a muon collider facility with a center-of-mass energy of 10 TeV. Conceptual design of the HTS split coil test facility for the Muon Collider cooling section
/ Scarantino, G (U. Rome La Sapienza (main) ; LASA, Segrate) ; Accettura, C (CERN) ; Baggi, B (Milan U.) ; Batia, D (Milan U.) ; Bottura, L (CERN) ; Bordini, B (CERN) ; Castoldi, M (LASA, Segrate) ; Elisei, M (LASA, Segrate ; Milan, Polytech.) ; Giordano, G (LASA, Segrate ; Milan, Polytech.) ; Giove, D (LASA, Segrate) et al.
The cooling section of the Muon Collider requires a number of solenoidal coils of various diameters (0.05-2 m) and fields (2-60 T). An unusual feature of the cooling section is that the RF cavities operates under the large magnetic fields and field gradients generated by the focusing elements. [...]

Superconducting magnets technology for a European heavy ion gantry
/ Prioli, Marco (LASA, Segrate) ; Santini, Carlo (LASA, Segrate) ; Barna, Daniel (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Gusvitskii, Todor (Rome U.) ; Perini, Diego (CERN) ; Bianchi, E (INFN, Genoa) ; Felcini, Enrico (CNAO, Milan) ; De Matteis, Ernesto (LASA, Segrate) ; Toral, Fernando (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Levi, Filippo (INFN, Genoa) et al.
Various initiatives in Europe have been launched to study superconducting magnets for a rotatable gantry suitable to deliver up to 430 MeV/u carbon ions for hadron therapy. Different technologies and layouts are being considered: the baseline solution is developed within the EuroSIG collaboration and consists of a strongly curved cos-θ dipole based on the classical NbTi superconductor. Experience on Series Production of the HL-LHC Superferric High Order Corrector Magnets
/ Statera, M (Milan U.) ; Prioli, M (Milan U.) ; Broggi, F (Milan U.) ; De Matteis, E (Milan U.) ; Imeri, L (Milan U.) ; Leone, A (Milan U.) ; Mariotto, S (Milan U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Paccalini, A (Milan U.) ; Pasini, A (Milan U.) ; Pedrini, D (Milan U.) et al.
INFN has developed at the LASA lab (Milano, Italy) the High Order (HO) corrector magnets for the High Luminosity-LHC (HL-LHC) project, which will equip the new interaction regions. All the HO correctors, from skew quadrupole to dodecapole, are based on a novel superferric design, never used so far in high energy colliders, which allows a relatively simple, modular, and easy way to construct a magnet. Completion of the Test Phase for the Hilumi LHC Skew Quadrupole Corrector Magnet
/ Prioli, M (LASA, Segrate) ; Broggi, F (LASA, Segrate) ; Campaniello, M (SAES Getters, Milan) ; Canetti, M (Rial Vacuum, Parma) ; Matteis, E De (LASA, Segrate) ; Gangini, F (Rial Vacuum, Parma) ; Imeri, L (LASA, Segrate) ; Leone, A (LASA, Segrate) ; Manini, P (SAES Getters, Milan) ; Mariotto, S (LASA, Segrate) et al.
In the family of the High-Luminosity LHC high order correctors, the skew quadrupole was the most critical magnet as three assemblies with different solutions were needed to meet the design specifications. This paper summarizes the prototyping phase of the magnet, discussing the observed nonconformities, the subsequent root cause analyses, and the adopted solutions. [...]
