/ Akiba, K. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Alexander, M. (Glasgow U.) ; Bertella, C. (Manchester U.) ; Biolchini, A. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Bitadze, A. (Manchester U.) ; Bogdanova, G. (Higher Sch. of Economics, Moscow) ; Borghi, S. (Manchester U.) ; Bowcock, T.J.V. (Liverpool U.) ; Bridges, K. (Liverpool U.) ; Brock, M. (Oxford U.) et al.
The LHCb detector has undergone a major upgrade for LHC Run 3. This Upgrade I detector facilitates operation at higher luminosity and utilises full-detector information at the LHC collision rate, critically including the use of vertex information. [...]

Population of a low-spin positive-parity band from high-spin intruder states in $^{177}$Au: The two-state mixing effect
/ Venhart, M (Bratislava, Inst. Phys.) ; Balogh, M (Bratislava, Inst. Phys.) ; Herzáň, A (Bratislava, Inst. Phys.) ; Wood, J L (Georgia Tech., Atlanta) ; Ali, F A (Liverpool U. ; Sulaimaniya U.) ; Joss, D T (Liverpool U.) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England ; JAERI, Tokai) ; Auranen, K (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Carroll, R J (Liverpool U.) ; Drummond, M C (Liverpool U.) et al.
The extremely neutron-deficient isotopes $^{177,179}$Au were studied by means of in-beam γ -ray spectroscopy. Specific tagging techniques, α -decay tagging in $^{177}$Au and isomer tagging in $^{179}$Au, were used for these studies. [...]

High-spin states of $^{218}$Th
/ O'Donnell, D (SUPA, UK ; Liverpool U. ; IIT, Roorkee) ; Page, R D (Liverpool U.) ; Grahn, T (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Ali, F A (Liverpool U. ; Sulaimaniya U.) ; Auranen, K (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Capponi, L (SUPA, UK) ; Carroll, R J (Liverpool U.) ; Chishti, M M R (SUPA, UK) ; Drummond, M C (Liverpool U.) ; Greenlees, P T (Jyvaskyla U.) et al.
High-spin states in the $N = 128$ nucleus $^{218}$Th have been investigated following fusion–evaporation reactions, using the recoil-decay tagging technique. Due to the short-lived nature of the ground state of $^{218}$Th prompt $\gamma$ rays have been correlated with the $\alpha$ decay of the daughter nucleus $^{214}$Ra. [...]

$^{208}$Po populated through EC/β$^{+}$ decay
/ Brunet, M (Surrey U.) ; Berry, T A (Surrey U.) ; Podolyák, Zs (Surrey U.) ; Carroll, R J (Surrey U.) ; Lica, R (CERN ; Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Sotty, Ch (Bucharest, IFIN-HH ; Leuven U.) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England) ; Borge, M J G (CERN) ; Cubiss, J G (CERN ; York U., England) ; Fraile, L M (Madrid U.) et al.
The structure of $^{208}$Po resulting from the EC/β + decay of $^{208}$At was studied at CERN’s ISOLDE Decay Station (IDS). The high statistics afforded by the high yield of $^{208}$At and the high efficiency HPGe clusters at the IDS allowed for greater insight into lower intensity transitions and thus significant expansion of the $^{208}$Po level scheme. Competition between allowed and first-forbidden $β$ decays of $^{208}$At and expansion of the $^{208}$Po level scheme
/ Brunet, M (Surrey U.) ; Podolyák, Zs (Surrey U.) ; Berry, T A (Surrey U.) ; Brown, B A (Michigan State U., NSCL) ; Carroll, R J (Surrey U.) ; Lica, R (CERN ; Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Sotty, Ch (Bucharest, IFIN-HH ; Leuven U.) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England ; JAEA, Ibaraki) ; Borge, M J G (CERN) ; Cubiss, J G (CERN ; Madrid U.) et al.
The structure of $^{208}$Po populated through the EC/$β^+$ decay of $^{208}$At is investigated using $γ$-ray spectroscopy at the ISOLDE Decay Station. The presented level scheme contains 27 new excited states and 43 new transitions, as well as a further 50 previously observed $γ$ rays which have been (re)assigned a position. [...]

Competition between Allowed and First-Forbidden $β$ Decay: The Case of $^{208}$Hg$→^{208}$Tl

The $β$ decay of $^{208}$Hg into the one-proton hole, one neutron-particle $^{208}_{81}$Tl$_{127}$ nucleus was investigated at CERN-ISOLDE. Shell-model calculations describe well the level scheme deduced, validating the proton-neutron interactions used, with implications for the whole of the N>126, Z<82 quadrant of neutron-rich nuclei. Octupole states in $^{207}$Tl studied through $β$ decay
/ Berry, T A (Surrey U.) ; Podolyák, Zs (Surrey U.) ; Carroll, R J (Surrey U.) ; Lică, R (CERN ; Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Brown, B A (Michigan State U.) ; Grawe, H (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Sotty, Ch (Bucharest, IFIN-HH ; Leuven U.) ; Timofeyuk, N K (Surrey U.) ; Alexander, T (Surrey U.) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England) et al.
The $β$ decay of $^{207}$Hg into the single-proton-hole nucleus $^{207}$Tl has been studied through $γ$-ray spectroscopy at the ISOLDE Decay Station (IDS) with the aim of identifying states resulting from coupling of the $πs^{−1}_{1/2}, πd^{−1}_{3/2},$ and $πh^{−1}_{11/2}$ shell model orbitals to the collective octupole vibration. Twenty-two states were observed lying between 2.6 and 4.0 MeV, eleven of which were observed for the first time, and 78 new transitions were placed. [...]

Investigation of the $\Delta n = 0$ selection rule in Gamow-Teller transitions: The $\beta$-decay of $^{207}$Hg
/ Berry, T A (Surrey U.) ; Podolyák, Zs (Surrey U.) ; Carroll, R J (Surrey U.) ; Lică, R (CERN ; Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Grawe, H ; Timofeyuk, N K (Surrey U.) ; Alexander, T (Surrey U.) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England) ; Ansari, S (Cologne U.) ; Borge, M J G (CERN ; Madrid, Inst. Estructura Materia) et al.
Gamow-Teller $\beta$ decay is forbidden if the number of nodes in the radial wave functions of the initial and final states is different. This $\Delta n=0$ requirement plays a major role in the $\beta$ decay of heavy neutron-rich nuclei, affecting the nucleosynthesis through the increased half-lives of nuclei on the astrophysical $r$-process pathway below both $Z=50$ (for $N>82$ ) and $Z=82$ (for $N>126$).
