The CMS Barrel Calorimeter Response to Particle Beams from 2 to 350 GeV/c / CMS HCAL/ECAL Collaboration
The response of the CMS barrel calorimeter (electromagnetic plus hadronic) to hadrons, electrons and muons over a wide momentum range from 2 to 350 GeV/c has been measured. To our knowledge, this is the widest range of momenta in which any calorimeter system has been studied. [...]

Design, Performance, and Calibration of the CMS Hadron-Outer Calorimeter / CMS HCAL Collaboration
The CMS hadron calorimeter is a sampling calorimeter with brass absorber and plastic scintillator tiles with wavelength shifting fibres for carrying the light to the readout device. The barrel hadron calorimeter is complemented with an outer calorimeter to ensure high energy shower containment in the calorimeter. [...]

Design, Performance, and Calibration of CMS Hadron Endcap Calorimeters / CMS HCAL Collaboration
Detailed measurements have been made with the CMS hadron calorimeter endcaps (HE) in response to beams of muons, electrons, and pions. Readout of HE with custom electronics and hybrid photodiodes (HPDs) shows no change of performance compared to readout with commercial electronics and photomultipliers. [...]

Energy Response and Longitudinal Shower Profiles Measured in CMS HCAL and Comparison With Geant4 / CMS HCAL Collaboration
The response of the CMS combined electromagnetic and hadron calorimeter to beams of pions with momenta in the range 5-300 GeV/c has been measured in the H2 test beam at CERN. The raw response with the electromagnetic compartment calibrated to electrons and the hadron compartment calibrated to 300 GeV pions may be represented by sigma = (1.2) sqrt{E} oplus (0.095) E. [...]

Synchronization and Timing in CMS HCAL / Baiatian, G (Yerevan Phys. Inst., Yerevan, Armenia) ; Sirunyan, Albert M ; Emeliantchik, Igor ; Massolov, V ; Shumeiko, Nikolai ; Stefanovich, R ; Damgov, Jordan ; Dimitrov, Lubomir ; Genchev, Vladimir ; Piperov, Stefan et al. /CMS Hadron Calorimeter Readout Group
The synchronization and timing of the hadron calorimeter (HCAL) for the Compact Muon Solenoid has been extensively studied with test beams at CERN during the period 2003-4, including runs with 40 MHz structured beam. The relative phases of the signals from different calorimeter segments are timed to 1 ns accuracy using a laser and equalized using programmable delay settings in the front-end electronics. [...]

Design, Performance and Calibration of the CMS Forward Calorimeter Wedges / CMS-HCAL Collaboration
We report on the test beam results and calibration methods using charged particles of the CMS Forward Calorimeter (HF). The HF calorimeter covers a large pseudorapidity region (3\l |\eta| \le 5), and is essential for large number of physics channels with missing transverse energy. [...]

Tests of CMS MSGC Modules at PSI / Beaumont, Willem (Antwerp U.) ; Beckers, T (Antwerp U.) ; Bernier, Kim (Antwerp U.) ; Blum, Peter (CERN) ; Bouhali, Othmane (Antwerp U.) ; Boulogne, Isabelle (Antwerp U.) ; Bozzo, Marco (INFN, Pisa) ; Brez, Alessandro (INFN, Pisa) ; Buzulutskov, A (Novosibirsk, IYF) ; Coffin, Jean-Pierre Coffin (Strasbourg, IPHC) et al.
The CMS experiment, to be installed at the future p-p collider LHC at CERN, foresees the use of Micro-Strip Gas Counters ( MSGC's) for the outer layers of its central tracker. Present developments focus on the reliability of MSGC's in the harsh radiation environment imposed by the LHC. [...]

Test of a CMS MSGC Tracker Prototype in a High Intesity Hadron Beam / Albert, Eric (CERN) ; Angelini, Franco (INFN, Pisa, Italy) ; Beaumont, Willem (Inter Universitaire Instelling Antwerpen, Belgium) ; Bell, B (CERN) ; Bellazzini, Ronaldo (INFN, Pisa, Italy) ; Bouhali, Othmane (ULD-VUB, Brussels, Belgium/ UMH, Mons, Belgium) ; Boulogne, Isabelle (ULD-VUB, Brussels, Belgium/ UMH, Mons, Belgium) ; Bozzo, Marco (CERN) ; Brand, Claude (CERN) ; Breuker, Horst (CERN) et al.
A set of CMS MicroStrip Gas Chambers ( MSGC) was exposed to a high intensity 3 GeV/c pion beam at a CERN PS facility for a period of two weeks. The performance of the detectors is reported in terms of stability of efficiency and response to minimum ionising particles as well as to more heavily ionising fragments generated by nuclear interactions..
