Mechanical Consolidation of the LHC Inner Triplet Magnet Supporting System for Remote Alignment
/ Micolon, Frederic (CERN) ; Bourcey, Nicolas (CERN) ; Deschamps, Jean-Baptiste (CERN) ; Herty, Andreas (CERN) ; Le Naour, Sandrine (CERN) ; Mikkola, Tommi (CERN) ; Parma, Vittorio (CERN) ; Ramos, Delio (CERN) ; Rude, Vivien (CERN) ; Sosin, Mateusz (CERN)
Given the high radiation area and the tight alignment tolerances, the LHC inner triplet magnets were designed to be realigned remotely using motorized supporting jacks. However, during run 2 the LHC triplet realignment system started to show an unexpected behavior with erratic load variations on the magnet supporting jacks when operated [...]

Inst.) ; Arsenyev, Sergey (CERN) ; Barranco, Javier (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Benedikt, Michael (CERN) ; Bruce, Roderik (CERN) et al.
We present updated design parameters for a future High-Energy LHC. A more realistic turnaround time has led to a revision of the target peak luminosity, as well as a choice of a larger IP beta function, and longer physics fills. [...]

Cryogenic safety in helium cryostats at CERN
/ Parma, Vittorio (CERN) ; Leclercq, Yann (CERN)
Cryostats contain large cold surfaces, cryogenic fluids, and sometimes large stored energy (e.g. energized magnets), with the potential risk of sudden liberation of energy through thermodynamic transformations of the fluids, which can be uncontrolled and lead to a dangerous increase of pressure inside the cryostat envelopes. [...]

Assembling experience of the first two HIE-ISOLDE cryomodules
/ Therasse, Mathieu (CERN) ; Barlow, Graeme (CERN) ; Bizzaglia, Sauro (CERN) ; Capatina, Ofelia (CERN) ; Chrul, Anna (CERN) ; Demarest, Paul (CERN) ; Dequaire, Julien (Intitek, Lyon, France) ; Deschamps, Jean-Baptiste (CERN) ; Gayde, Jean-Christophe (CERN) ; Gourragne, Max (CERN) et al.
The assembly of the first two cryomodules (CM1 and CM2) of the new superconducting linear accelerator HIE-ISOLDE (High Intensity and Energy ISOLDE), located downstream of the REX-ISOLDE normal conducting accelerator, started one year and half ago. After a delicate assembly phase in the cleanroom which lasted nine months, the first cryomodule was transported to the ISOLDE hall on 2 May 2015 and coupled to the existing REX-ISOLDE accelerator, increasing the energy of the radioactive ion beams from 2.8 to 4.3 MeV per nucleon. HIE-ISOLDE SC Linac progress and commissioning in 2016
/ Venturini Delsolaro, Walter (CERN) ; Bravin, Enrico (CERN) ; Delruelle, Nicolas (CERN) ; Elias, Michal (CERN) ; Fadakis, Eleftherios (CERN) ; Ferreira Somoza, Jose (CERN) ; Formenti, Fabio (CERN) ; Fraser, Matthew (CERN) ; Gayde, Jean-Christophe (CERN) ; Guillotin, Nicolas (CERN) et al.
After the first successful physics run with radioactive ion beams at HIE ISOLDE, in October 2015 [1], the staged deployment of the linac continued in 2016 by adding a second cryomodule and by refurbishing the first one. During the physics run with one cryomodule, the second cryomodule was being assembled. [...]

The first phase of the HIE-ISOLDE project aims to increase the energy of the existing REX ISOLDE facilities from 3MeV/m to 5MeV/m. It involves the assembly of two superconducting cryo-modules based on quarter wave resonators made by niobium sputtered on copper. [...]
