Kubernetes as a Container Application Platform / Dorn, Matt (speaker) ; Hrivnak, Michael (speaker)
Container orchestrators based on Kubernetes are increasingly used for application deployment. Several applications have been deployed using these technologies, as for example CERN GitLab, central web hosting and some ATLAS analysis. We will cover the entry-level for both application developers and system administrators who are interested in knowing how to start and deploy an application with Kubernetes or OpenShift and how to convert existing containerized applications into [operators](https://blog.openshift.com/introducing-the-operator-framework/). Participants will be presented with a brief overview of Kubernetes concepts and an exploration of the Kubernetes API and client-libraries by the hand of the Red Hat experts.   Lecturers' bio:  Matt Dorn Principal Software Engineer at Red Hat Matt Dorn is a Principal Software Engineer at Red Hat and helps hundreds of IT teams around the world succeed with cloud native technology. KLauS – A charge readout and fast discrimination chip for silicon photomultipliers / Dorn, M (Kirchhoff Inst. Phys.) ; Harion, T (Kirchhoff Inst. Phys.) ; Shen, W (Kirchhoff Inst. Phys.) ; Sidlauskas, G (Kirchhoff Inst. Phys.) ; Schultz-Coulon, H.C (Kirchhoff Inst. Phys.)
KLauS is an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) for the readout of silicon photomultipliers. The chip has been designed for the application in the analog hadronic calorimeter developed by the CALICE collaboration for the next linear collider experiment . [...]

Characterization results and first applications of KLauS - an ASIC for SiPM charge and fast discrimination readout / Briggl, K (UHEI) ; Shen, W (UHEI) ; Harion, T (UHEI) ; Hagdorn, R (UHEI) ; Eckert, P (UHEI) ; Klapdor-Kleingrothaus, T (UHEI) ; Dorn, M (UHEI) ; Schultz-Coulon, H.C (UHEI)
KLauS is an ASIC produced in the AMS 0.35μm SiGe technology to read out the charge signals from silicon photomultipliers. Developed as an analog front end for future calorimeters with high granularity as pursued by the AHCAL concept in the CALICE collaboration, the ASIC is supposed to measure the charge signal of the sensors in a large dynamic range and with a high precision. KLauS is an ASIC produced in the AMS 0.35 mm SiGe process to read out the charge signals from silicon photomultipliers. Developed as an analog front-end for future calorimeters with high granularity as pursued by the AHCAL concept in the CALICE collaboration, the ASIC is designed to measure the charge signal of the sensors in a large dynamic range and with low electronic noise contributions. The ATLAS Level-1 Calorimeter Trigger: PreProcessor implementation and performance / Asman, B (Stockholm U.) ; Achenbach, R (Kirchhoff Inst. Phys.) ; Allbrooke, B M M (Birmingham U.) ; Anders, G (Kirchhoff Inst. Phys.) ; Andrei, V (Kirchhoff Inst. Phys.) ; Buscher, V (Mainz U., Inst. Phys.) ; Bansil, H S (Birmingham U.) ; Barnett, B M (Rutherford) ; Bauss, B (Mainz U., Inst. Phys.) ; Bendtz, K (Stockholm U.) et al.
The PreProcessor system of the ATLAS Level-1 Calorimeter Trigger (L1Calo) receives about 7200 analogue signals from the electromagnetic and hadronic components of the calorimetric detector system. Lateral division results in cells which are pre-summed to so-called Trigger Towers of size 0.1 × 0.1 along azimuth (phi) and pseudorapidity (η). [...]
