dE/dx from boosted long-lived particles / Giudice, Gian F. (CERN) ; McCullough, Matthew (CERN) ; Teresi, Daniele (CERN)
At colliders massive long-lived charged particles could be revealed through their anomalously large ionisation energy loss $dE/dx$. In this paper we explore a class of scenarios in which the LLPs are particularly boosted, owing to production from the decay of a heavy parent resonance. [...]

Islands and the de Sitter entropy bound / Teresi, Daniele (CERN)
The de Sitter (dS) entropy bound gives the maximal number of e-folds that non-eternal inflation can last before violating the thermodynamical interpretation of dS space. This semiclassical argument is the analogue, for dS space, of the Black-Hole information paradox. [...]

Sliding Naturalness: Cosmological Selection of the Weak Scale / Tito D'Agnolo, Raffaele (IPhT, Saclay) ; Teresi, Daniele (CERN)
We present a cosmological solution to the electroweak hierarchy problem. After discussing general features of cosmological approaches to naturalness, we extend the Standard Model with two light scalars very weakly coupled to the Higgs and present the mechanism, which we recently introduced in a companion paper to explain jointly the electroweak hierarchy and the strong-CP problem. [...]

Sliding Naturalness: New Solution to the Strong-$CP$ and Electroweak-Hierarchy Problems / Tito D'Agnolo, Raffaele (IPhT, Saclay) ; Teresi, Daniele (CERN)
We present a novel framework to solve simultaneously the electroweak hierarchy problem and the strong-CP problem. A small but finite Higgs vacuum expectation value and a small $\theta$-angle are selected after the QCD phase transition, without relying on the Peccei-Quinn mechanism or other traditional solutions. [...]

Dark Matter as dark dwarfs and other macroscopic objects: multiverse relics? / Gross, Christian (Pisa U.) ; Landini, Giacomo (Pisa U.) ; Strumia, Alessandro (Pisa U.) ; Teresi, Daniele (CERN)
First-order phase transitions can leave relic pockets of false vacua and their particles, that manifest as macroscopic Dark Matter. We compute one predictive model: a gauge theory with a dark quark relic heavier than the confinement scale. [...]

Pati-Salam and lepton universality in B decays / Heeck, Julian (UC, Irvine) ; Teresi, Daniele (Pisa U. ; INFN, Pisa)
Recent hints for lepton-flavor non-universality in $B$-meson decays can be interpreted as hints for the existence of leptoquarks. We show that scalar leptoquarks unavoidably arise in grand unified theories, using the well-known Pati-Salam model as an example. [...]

Xenon1T excess from electron recoils of non-relativistic Dark Matter / Buttazzo, Dario (INFN, Pisa) ; Panci, Paolo (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa U.) ; Teresi, Daniele (Pisa U. ; CERN) ; Ziegler, Robert (KIT, Karlsruhe, TTP)
We show that electron recoils induced by non-relativistic Dark Matter interactions can fit well the recently reported Xenon1T excess, if they are mediated by a light pseudo-scalar in the MeV range. This is due to the favorable momentum-dependence of the resulting scattering rate, which partially compensates the unfavorable kinematics that tends to strongly suppress keV electron recoils. [...]

Scale invariance: super-cooling and Dark Matter / Iso, Satoshi (speaker) ; Teresi, Daniele (speaker) (Università di Pisa)
If the electroweak sector of the Standard Model is described by classically conformal dynamics, the early Universe evolution can be substantially altered. In particular, one generically has a significant period of super-cooling, often ended when quark condensates form at the QCD phase transition. [...]

Super-cool Dark Matter / Hambye, Thomas (Brussels U.) ; Strumia, Alessandro (CERN ; INFN, Pisa ; Pisa U.) ; Teresi, Daniele (Brussels U.)
In dimension-less theories of dynamical generation of the weak scale, the Universe can undergo a period of low-scale inflation during which all particles are massless and super-cool. This leads to a new mechanism of generation of the cosmological Dark Matter (DM) relic density: super-cooling can easily suppress the amount of DM to the desired level. [...]
