Towards Precision Spectroscopy of Antiprotonic Atoms for Probing Strong-field QED
/ Baptista, Gonçalo (Paris, Lab. Kastler Brossel) ; Rathi, Shikha (Paris, Lab. Kastler Brossel ; Technion) ; Roosa, Michael (Paris, Lab. Kastler Brossel) ; Senetaire, Quentin (Paris, Lab. Kastler Brossel) ; Sommerfeldt, Jonas (Paris, Lab. PAX (antiProtonic Atom X-ray spectroscopy) is a new experiment with the aim to test strong-field quantum electrodynamics (QED) effects by performing high-precision x-ray spectroscopy of antiprotonic atoms. By utilizing advanced microcalorimeter detection techniques and a low-energy antiproton beam provided by the ELENA ring at CERN, gaseous targets will be used for the creation of antiprotonic atoms, and the measurement of transitions between circular Rydberg states will be conducted with up to two orders of magnitude improved accuracy over previous studies using high-purity germanium detectors. Experience with Beam Transfer Function Measurements for Setting-up the Stochastic Cooling System in the CERN Anti-Proton Decelerator (AD)
/ Rey, Stephane (CERN) ; Bastos, Wilker (CERN) ; Caspers, Fritz (CERN) ; Dupuy, Bruno (CERN) ; Gamba, Davide (CERN) ; Höfle, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Louwerse, Reinier (CERN)
Beam transfer function measurements have regularly been used to set-up the adjustable parameters for stochastic cooling systems. We report on the automation of these measurements at CERN that permit efficient set-up of the cooling loops in the anti-proton decelerator (AD) and enables insight into the bandwidth (nominal frequency range of 850 MHz to 1.7 GHz) of the overall system for the longitudinal, horizontal and vertical cooling at the two different beam momenta of 2 GeV/c and 3.5 GeV/c. Advancements and Applications of Cooling Simulation Tools: A Focus on Xsuite
/ Kruyt, Peter (CERN ; Frankfurt U.) ; Franchetti, Giuliano (Darmstadt, GSI ; CERN ; Frankfurt U.) ; Gamba, Davide (CERN)
his paper presents recent advancements in cooling simulation tools in Xsuite, which is a new particle accelerator simulation code developed at CERN. An electron cooling module, based on the Parkhomchuk model, has been implemented and benchmarked against Betacool using parameters of the LEIR e-cooler at CERN. [...]

A review of the 2023 antiproton physics run in the CERN antimatter factory
/ Bojtar, Lajos (CERN) ; Lefort, Bertrand (CERN) ; Dupuy, Bruno (CERN) ; Gamba, Davide (CERN) ; Joergensen, Lars (CERN) ; Ponce, Laurette (CERN) ; Freyermuth, Pierre (CERN) ; Pasinelli, Sergio (CERN) ; Dutheil, Yann (CERN)
Despite a shorter-than-scheduled physics run due to a hardware problem, the AD/ELENA antiproton complex delivered record beam intensities to the experiments during the 2023 run. This paper reviews the performance of both the CERN Antiproton Decelerator (AD) and the Extra Low ENergy Antiproton (ELENA) decelerator and their associated transfer lines. [...]

The Forward Physics Facility (FPF) has been proposed to house a set of detectors to study collider neutrinos and search for new particles in the High-Luminosity LHC era. This report provides an update to the space and infrastructure requirements of the Facility, a result of integration studies carried out by CERN technical teams in conjunction with the FPF experimental community.
