Search for Majorana neutrinos exploiting millikelvin cryogenics with CUORE / CUORE Collaboration
The possibility that neutrinos may be their own antiparticles, unique among the known fundamental particles, arises from the symmetric theory of fermions proposed by Ettore Majorana in 1937. Given the profound consequences of such Majorana neutrinos, among which is a potential explanation for the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe via leptogenesis, the Majorana nature of neutrinos commands intense experimental scrutiny globally; one of the primary experimental probes is neutrinoless double beta ($0 \nu \beta \beta$) decay. Experimental Search for Solar Axions / SOLAX Collaboration
A new technique has been used to search for solar axions using a single crystal germanium detector. It exploits the coherent conversion of axions into photons when their angle of incidence satisfies a Bragg condition with a crystalline plane. [...]

Results are reported of an experimental search for the unique, rapidly varying temporal pattern of solar axions coherently converting into photons via the Primakoff effect in a single crystal germanium detector. This conversion is predicted when axions are incident at a Bragg angle with a crystalline plane. [...]

Theory for the Direct Detection of Solar Axions by Coherent Primakoff Conversion in Germanium Detectors / Creswick, R.J. (South Carolina U.) ; Avignone, F.T., III (South Carolina U.) ; Farach, H.A. (South Carolina U.) ; Collar, J.I. (CERN) ; Gattone, A.O. (CNEA, Buenos Aires) ; Nussinov, S. (Tel Aviv U.) ; Zioutas, K. (Thessaloniki U.)
It is assumed that axions exist and are created in the Sun by Primakoff conversion of photons in the Coulomb fields of nuclei. Detection rates are calculated in germanium detectors due to the coherent conversion of axions to photons in the lattice when the incident angle fulfills the Bragg condition for a given crystalline plane.
