Transforming Concept into Reality: Overcoming Challenges in the HL-LHC IT String Test Stand Implementation / Bajko, M (CERN) ; Blanchard, S (CERN) ; Bozzini, D (CERN) ; Bruning, O (CERN) ; Garcia, N Heredia (CERN) ; Zerlauth, M (CERN) ; Yammine, S (CERN)
The objective of the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) Inner Triplet (IT) String is to faithfully represent and validate, within a surface building at CERN, the installation and collective behavior of all major systems in the new HL-LHC IT zone. These systems encompass superconducting magnets, protection, cryogenics for the superconducting magnets and the superconducting link, powering, vacuum, alignment, interconnections between magnets, and the superconducting link itself. [...]

70 years at the high-energy frontier with the CERN accelerator complex / Brüning, Oliver (CERN) ; Klein, Max (Liverpool U.) ; Myers, Stephen (CERN) ; Rossi, Lucio (Milan Bicocca U. ; LASA, Segrate)
Over the first 70 years of its existence, CERN has created an impressive portfolio of accelerators, many of which are still in operation today. The ‘jewel in the crown’ of the complex is certainly the 27-km tunnel and its infrastructure, built approximately 100 m underground between the Jura mountains and Lake Geneva on the French–Swiss border. Chapter 1: The High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider – HL-LHC / Brüning, O (CERN) ; Rossi, L (LASA, Segrate)
HL-LHC federates efforts, R&D;, and construction of a large community in Europe, the USA, Japan, China and Canada, thereby consolidating CERN and LHC as the center of a world-wide collaboration for basic science and technology..

Status and prospects of the HL-LHC project / Zerlauth, Markus (CERN) ; Brüning, Oliver (CERN)
This contribution summarizes the status of preparations and series production of key technologies for the HL-LHC upgrade project. The upgrade will be deployed in the LHC tunnel at the end of the currently ongoing third operational run of the LHC, by creating new underground areas and upgrading the existing LHC equipment, aiming to increase the data set collected by the main LHC experiments by another order of magnitude and starting operation as of 2029..

Beam dynamics driven design of powerful energy recovery linac for experiments / Bogacz, S A (Jefferson Lab) ; André, K D J (CERN) ; Brüning, O (CERN) ; Holzer, B J (CERN) ; Hounsell, B R (U. Liverpool (main)) ; Klein, M (U. Liverpool (main)) ; Militsyn, B L (Daresbury) ; Williams, P H (Daresbury) ; Segurana, G Pérez (Lancaster U.) ; Bailey, I (Lancaster U.) et al.
Powerful ERL for experiments (PERLE) is a novel energy recovery linac (ERL) test facility [1], designed to validate choices for a 50 GeV ERL foreseen in the design of the Large Hadron Electron Collider and the Future Circular Collider and to host dedicated nuclear and particle physics experiments. Its main goal is to demonstrate the high current, continuous wave, multipass operation with superconducting cavities at 802 MHz. [...]

At its restart after a major shutdown in 2029, the LHC will see its interaction regions upgraded by the installation of the HL-LHC equipment, with new Nb3Sn triplets and cold powering system, crab-cavities for crossing angle compensation and luminosity levelling, an upgraded collimation system, and fully remote alignment for the final focusing region. In the following operational runs, the LHC will aim at a tenfold increase of the integrated luminosity compared to the original design. [...]
