TIGER (aka Torino Integrated Gem Electronics for Readout) is the ASIC designed at INFN-Torino for the front-end electronics of a cylindrical triple GEM detector, proposed to replace the inner tracker of BESIII spectrometer (Beijing Electron Spectrometer). The high luminosity of the collider, operational at the Institute of High Energy Physics in Beijing (IHEP), allows to measure states of charmonium and open charm, to carry out light hadrons spectroscopy and to study $\tau$ lepton physics, but it caused aging and degradation problems to the tracking performance. Roadmap toward the 10 ps time-of-flight PET challenge / Lecoq, Paul (CERN) ; Morel, Christian (Marseille, CPPM) ; Prior, John O (Lausanne U.) ; Visvikis, Dimitris (LATIM, Brest) ; Gundacker, Stefan (CERN ; Milan U.) ; Auffray, Etiennette (CERN) ; Križan, Peter (Ljubljana U.) ; Turtos, Rosana Martinez (CERN ; Aarhus U.) ; Thers, Dominique (SUBATECH, Nantes) ; Charbon, Edoardo (Neuchatel U.) et al.
Since the seventies, positron emission tomography (PET) has become an invaluable medical molecular imaging modality with an unprecedented sensitivity at the picomolar level, especially for cancer diagnosis and the monitoring of its response to therapy. More recently, its combination with x-ray computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance (MR) has added high precision anatomic information in fused PET/CT and PET/MR images, thus compensating for the modest intrinsic spatial resolution of PET. Monolithic CMOS sensors for sub-nanosecond timing / Kugathasan, Thanushan (CERN) ; Ando, Taeko (Ritsumeikan U.) ; Dannheim, Dominik (CERN) ; Etoh, Takeharu Goji (Ritsumeikan U.) ; Munker, Magdalena (CERN) ; Pernegger, Heinz (CERN) ; Rivetti, Angelo (INFN, Turin) ; Shimonomura, Kazuhiro (Ritsumeikan U.) ; Snoeys, Walter (CERN)
In the ATTRACT project FASTPIX we investigate monolithic pixel sensors with small collection electrodes in CMOS technologies for fast signal collection and precise timing in the sub-nanosecond range. Deep submicron CMOS technologies allow tiny, sub-femtofarad collection electrodes, and large signal-to-noise ratios, essential for very precise timing. [...]

A new detector exploiting the technology of Gas Electron Multipliers is under construction to replace the innermost drift chamber of BESIII experiment, since its efficiency is compromised owing the high luminosity of Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The new inner tracker with a cylindrical shape will deploy several new features. [...]

Precision measurement of the structure of the CMS inner tracking system using nuclear interactions / CMS Collaboration
The structure of the CMS inner tracking system has been studied using nuclear interactions of hadrons striking its material. Data from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded in 2015 at the LHC are used to reconstruct millions of secondary vertices from these nuclear interactions. [...]

The quality assurance of particle therapy treatment is a fundamental issue that can be addressed by developing reliable monitoring techniques and indicators of the treatment plan correctness. Among the available imaging techniques, positron emission tomography (PET) has long been investigated and then clinically applied to proton and carbon beams. [...]
