Advanced Composite Insulation Systems in Nb$_{3}$Sn Superconducting Magnets for Accelerators: Electrical Characterization of Laminates at Cryogenic Temperatures / Osuna, J (CERN) ; Piccin, R (CERN) ; Pincot, F O (CERN) ; Polvani, D (CERN ; Bologna U.) ; Scheuerlein, C (CERN)
The electrical insulation system in wind-and-react Nb3Sn superconducting magnets must be robust, such that it can sustain the mechanical stresses, high radiation doses, and thermal cycles involved in the operation of the magnets. The chosen cable insulation material, currently a thin layer of braided S2 Glass, must also withstand a high-temperature heat treatment in an inert atmosphere, required to develop the superconducting phase in the cable. Status and Challenges in the MQXFB Nb3Sn Quadrupoles for the HL-LHC / LARP Collaboration
The inner triplet (or low-$\beta$) quadrupole magnets are among the components to be upgraded in LHC interaction regions for the HL-LHC project. The new quadrupole magnets, called MQXF, are based on Nb3Sn superconducting magnet technology, with a conductor peak field of 11.3 T. [...]

Construction and Analysis of a Modified Nb3Sn 11 T Short Dipole Model / Cabrera, Carmen Abad (CERN) ; Perini, Diego (CERN) ; Bampton, Tavis Alexander (CERN) ; Bahmane, Oussama Id (CERN) ; Izquierdo Bermudez, Susana (CERN) ; Bourcey, Nicolas (CERN) ; Devred, Arnaud (CERN) ; Vez, Ruth Diaz (CERN) ; Garion, Cedric (CERN) ; Guinchard, Michael (CERN) et al.
The 5.2-m-long, 11 T double-aperture Nb3Sn Dipole Magnet was designed to replace some of the standard, 15-m-long 8.3 T Nb–Ti main dipole magnets in the Large Hadron Collider. After the production and test of several of 2-m-long models, the test of full-length 11 T series magnets revealed signs of performance degradation in the coil ends after a sequence of electromagnetic and thermal cycles. The possible sources for performance degradation were categorized into two groups: issues internal to the coils and issues with the coil support structure, in particular in the magnet ends. [...]

Curved-Canted-Cosine-Theta (CCCT) Dipole Prototype Development at CERN / Haziot, Ariel (CERN) ; Kirby, Glyn (CERN) ; Dallocchio, Alessandro (CERN) ; Devred, Arnaud (CERN) ; Foussat, Arnaud (CERN) ; Gentini, Luca (CERN) ; Mangiarotti, Franco J (CERN) ; Pentella, Mariano (CERN) ; Petrone, Carlo (CERN) ; Pincot, Francois-Olivier (CERN) et al.
Due to its flexibility in generating advanced field harmonic corrections and potential for low cost compared to traditional designs, the Canted Cosine Theta (CCT) configuration is particularly interesting for compact particle accelerators and gantries for medical applications. This article presents the design of a curved demonstrator named Fusillo, a Canted Cosine Theta Nb-Ti dipole magnet that is being developed at CERN, featuring a large aperture of 236 mm, a small bending radius of 1 m, a bending angle of 90$^{\circ }$, and multi-harmonic field correction, with a 3.61 T conductor peak field. Effective Time Constants at 4.2 to 70 K in ReBCO Pancake Coils With Different Inter-Turn Resistances / Nes, T H (Twente U., Enschede ; CERN) ; Rijk, G De (CERN) ; Kirby, G (CERN) ; Pincot, F O (CERN) ; Liberadzka-Porret, J (CERN) ; Petrone, C (CERN) ; Richter, S C (CERN) ; van Nugteren, J (CERN) ; Kario, A (Twente U., Enschede) ; Ten Kate, H H J (Twente U., Enschede)
For future Re BCO tape based accelerator magnets it is proposed to use no- or partial inter-turn insulation to deal with quench detection and protection. In a non-insulated coil the turns are separated by a finite electrical resistance, providing a bypass for the current at hot-spots, improving thermal stability and quench detection time. [...]

High-temperature superconducting screens for magnetic field-error cancellation in accelerator magnets / Bortot, L. (CERN ; Darmstadt, Tech. U.) ; Mentink, M. (CERN) ; Petrone, C. Accelerators magnets must have minimal magnetic field imperfections for reducing particle-beam instabilities. In the case of coils made of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) tapes, the field imperfections from persistent currents need to be carefully evaluated. [...]
