First results with a Base Band Tune (BBQ) measurement system at Solaris / Gasior, Marek (CERN) ; Wawrzyniak, Adriana (Unlisted, PL) ; Szczepaniak, Mateusz (Unlisted, PL) ; Panas, Roman (Unlisted, PL)
All CERN circular accelerators are equipped with Base Band Tune (BBQ) measurement systems, based on the direct diode detection technique, allowing to measure the tunes of hadron beams by employing their residual betatron oscillations or very small external excitation. In the framework of the Future Circular Collider (FCC) project, a study was launched to optimise such a system for operation with short electron bunches. [...]

A New Wall Current Transformer for Accurate Beam Intensity Measurements in the Large Hadron Collider / Krupa, Michal (CERN) ; Gasior, Marek (CERN)
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) stores two high-energy counter-rotating particle beams consisting of multiple bunches of a nanosecond length. Precise knowledge of the number of particles within each bunch, known as the bunch intensity, is crucial for physicists and accelerator operators. [...]

An LHC Protection System Based on Fast Beam Intensity Drops / Gąsior, Marek (CERN) ; Levens, Thomas (CERN)
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is protected against potentially dangerous beam losses by a distributed system based on some four thousand beam loss monitors. To provide an additional level of safety, the LHC has been equipped with a system to detect fast beam intensity drops and trigger a beam dump for potentially dangerous rates. [...]

Signal Analysis and Detection for the BPMs of the LHC Hollow Electron Lens / Bantemits, Georgios (CERN) ; Gąsior, Marek (CERN) ; Rossi, Adriana (CERN) ; Wendt, Manfred (CERN)
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN will be equipped with two hollow electron lenses (HEL) for the high luminosity upgrade, which allow for scraping of the LHC proton or ion beams transverse tails by overlapping a coaxial hollow electron beam over a 3 m length. A precise alignment of the two beams is essential for the HEL functionality, the bunched LHC hadron beam of up to 7 TeV beam energy, and the non-relativistic, DC-like electron hollow beam of 10 keV energy. The betatron tune in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is measured using a Base-Band-Tune (BBQ) system. Processing of these BBQ signals is often perturbed by 50Hz noise harmonics present in the beam. [...]

Analysis of Quadrupolar Measurements for Beam Size Determination in the LHC / Alves, Diogo (CERN) ; Gąsior, Marek (CERN) ; Lefèvre, Thibaut (CERN)
Due to limitations with non-invasive beam size diagnostics in the LHC, particularly during the energy ramp, there has been an interest to explore quadrupolar-based measurements for estimating the transverse beam size, and hence determining the transverse emittance. This technique is especially attractive as it is completely passive and can use the existing beam position instrumentation. [...]

Using Tune Measurement Systems Based on Diode Detectors for Quadrupolar Beam Oscillation Analysis in the Frequency Domain / Gąsior, Marek (CERN) ; Levens, Thomas (CERN)
Requirements for diagnostics of injection matching and beam space charge effects have driven studies at CERN using high sensitivity tune measurement systems based on diode detectors for the observation of quadrupolar beam oscillations in the frequency domain. This has led to an extension of such tune systems to include a channel optimised for quadrupolar oscillation measurements. [...]
