Gauged flavour symmetry for B anomalies / Alonso, Rodrigo (CERN)
Signs of physics beyond our stablished theory have sprung in the field ofB-meson physics. Although the evidence is not conclusive, theoreticalexploratory efforts help make sense of the new data in a consistent picture andallow contrast with other experimental searches. [...]

Scattering of light dark matter in atomic clocks / Wolf, Peter (SYRTE, Paris) ; Alonso, Rodrigo (CERN) ; Blas, Diego (CERN ; King's Coll. London)
We present a detailed analysis of the effect of light Dark Matter (DM) on atomic clocks, for the case where DM mass and density are such that occupation numbers are low and DM must be considered as particles scattering off the atoms, rather than a classical field. We show that the resulting atomic clock frequency shifts are first order in the scattering amplitudes, and particularly suited to constrain DM models in the regime where the DM mass $m_\chi \ll$ GeV. Exploring the ultra-light to sub-MeV dark matter window with atomic clocks and co-magnetometers / Alonso, Rodrigo (CERN) ; Blas, Diego (CERN ; King's Coll. London) ; Wolf, Peter (SYRTE, Paris)
Particle dark matter could have a mass anywhere from that of ultralight candidates, $m_\chi\sim 10^{-21}\,$eV, to scales well above the GeV. Conventional laboratory searches are sensitive to a range of masses close to the weak scale, while new techniques are required to explore candidates outside this realm. [...]

A clockwork solution to the flavor puzzle / Alonso, Rodrigo (CERN) ; Carmona, Adrian (Mainz U., Inst. Phys. ; U. Mainz, PRISMA) ; Dillon, Barry M. (Plymouth U.) ; Kamenik, Jernej F. (Stefan Inst., Ljubljana ; Ljubljana U.) ; Martin Camalich, Jorge (CERN ; IAC, La Laguna) ; Zupan, Jure (Cincinnati U.)
We introduce a set of clockwork models of flavor that can naturally explain the large hierarchies of the Standard Model quark masses and mixing angles. Since the clockwork only contains chains of new vector-like fermions without any other dynamical fields, the flavor constraints allow for relatively light new physics scale. [...]

Wormholes and masses for Goldstone bosons / Alonso, Rodrigo (CERN) ; Urbano, Alfredo (CERN)
There exist non-trivial stationary points of the Euclidean action for an axion particle minimally coupled to Einstein gravity, dubbed wormholes. They explicitly break the continuos global shift symmetry of the axion in a non-perturbative way, and generate an effective potential that may compete with QCD depending on the value of the axion decay constant. [...]

Flavoured $B-L$ Local Symmetry and Anomalous Rare $B$ Decays / Alonso, Rodrigo (CERN) ; Cox, Peter (Tokyo U., IPMU) ; Han, Chengcheng (Tokyo U., IPMU) ; Yanagida, Tsutomu T. (Tokyo U., IPMU)
We consider a flavoured $B-L$ gauge symmetry under which only the third generation fermions are charged. Such a symmetry can survive at low energies (~TeV) while still allowing for two superheavy right-handed neutrinos, consistent with neutrino masses via see-saw and leptogenesis. [...]

Anomaly-free local horizontal symmetry and anomaly-full rare B-decays / Alonso, Rodrigo (CERN) ; Cox, Peter (Tokyo U., IPMU) ; Han, Chengcheng (Tokyo U., IPMU) ; Yanagida, Tsutomu T. (Tokyo U., IPMU ; Hamamatsu U.)
The largest global symmetry that can be made local in the Standard Model + 3$\nu_R$ while being compatible with Pati-Salam unification is $SU(3)_H\times U(1)_{B-L}$. The gauge bosons of this theory would induce flavour effects involving both quarks and leptons, and are a potential candidate to explain the recent reports of lepton universality violation in rare B meson decays. Tau properties in $B\to D\tau\nu$ from visible final-state kinematics / Alonso, Rodrigo (CERN) ; Martin Camalich, Jorge (CERN) ; Westhoff, Susanne (U. Heidelberg, ITP)
In semi-leptonic $B$ decays with a tau lepton, features of the production process are imprinted on the tau helicity states. Since the tau momentum cannot be fully reconstructed experimentally, the available information on the tau properties is encoded in its visible decay products. [...]

Lifetime of $B_c^-$ Constrains Explanations for Anomalies in $B\to D^{(*)}\tau\nu$ / Alonso, Rodrigo (CERN) ; Grinstein, Benjamín (UC, San Diego) ; Martin Camalich, Jorge (CERN)
We investigate a new constraint on new-physics interpretations of the anomalies observed in $B\to D^{(*)}\tau\nu$ decays making use of the lifetime of the $B_c^-$ meson. A constraint is obtained by demanding that the rate for $B_c^-\to\tau^-\bar\nu$ does not exceed the fraction of the total width that is allowed by the calculation of the lifetime in the standard model. Geometry of the Scalar Sector / Alonso, Rodrigo (UC, San Diego) ; Jenkins, Elizabeth E. (UC, San Diego ; CERN) ; Manohar, Aneesh V. (UC, San Diego ; CERN)
The $S$-matrix of a quantum field theory is unchanged by field redefinitions, and so only depends on geometric quantities such as the curvature of field space. Whether the Higgs multiplet transforms linearly or non-linearly under electroweak symmetry is a subtle question since one can make a coordinate change to convert a field that transforms linearly into one that transforms non-linearly [...]
