Voltage scanning and technical upgrades at the Collinear Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy experiment / Athanasakis-Kaklamanakis, Michail (CERN ; Leuven U.) ; Reilly, Jordan R. (Manchester U.) ; Koszorús, Ágota (CERN) ; Wilkins, Shane G. (MIT) ; Lalanne, Louis (Leuven U.) ; Geldhof, Sarina (Leuven U.) ; Nichols, Miranda (Goteborg, ITP) ; Wang, Quanjun (Lanzhou U. (main)) ; van den Borne, Bram (Leuven U.) ; Chorlton, David (Manchester U.) et al.
To optimize the performance of the Collinear Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy (CRIS) experiment at CERN-ISOLDE, technical upgrades are continuously introduced, aiming to enhance its sensitivity, precision, stability, and efficiency. Recently, a voltage-scanning setup was developed and commissioned at CRIS, which improved the scanning speed by a factor of three as compared to the current laser-frequency scanning approach. [...]

King-Plot Analysis of Isotope Shifts in Simple Diatomic Molecules / Athanasakis-Kaklamanakis, Michail (CERN ; Leuven U.) ; Wilkins, Shane G. (MIT) ; Breier, Alexander A. (Kassel U.) ; Neyens, Gerda (Leuven U.)
We demonstrate that the isotope shift in isotopomers of diatomic molecules, where the nucleus of one of its constituent atoms is replaced by another isotope, can be expressed as the sum of a field shift and a mass shift, similar to the atomic case. We show that a linear relation holds between atomic and molecular isotopes shifts, thus extending the King-plot analysis to molecular isotope shifts. [...]

Opportunities for Fundamental Physics Research with Radioactive Molecules / Arrowsmith-Kron, Gordon (Michigan State U.) ; Athanasakis-Kaklamanakis, Michail (CERN ; Leuven U.) ; Au, Mia (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Ballof, Jochen (CERN ; Michigan State U.) ; Berger, Robert (Philipps U. Marburg) ; Borschevsky, Anastasia (U. Groningen, VSI) ; Breier, Alexander A. (Kassel U.) ; Buchinger, Fritz (McGill U.) ; Budker, Dmitry (Darmstadt, GSI ; UC, Berkeley) ; Caldwell, Luke (JILA, Boulder ; U. Colorado, Boulder ; Colorado U.) et al.
Molecules containing short-lived, radioactive nuclei are uniquely positioned to enable a wide range of scientific discoveries in the areas of fundamental symmetries, astrophysics, nuclear structure, and chemistry. Recent advances in the ability to create, cool, and control complex molecules down to the quantum level, along with recent and upcoming advances in radioactive species production at several facilities around the world, create a compelling opportunity to coordinate and combine these efforts to bring precision measurement and control to molecules containing extreme nuclei. Spectral synthesis of multimode lasers to the Fourier limit in integrated Fabry–Perot diamond resonators / Granados, Eduardo (CERN) ; Granados, Camilo ; Ahmed, Rizwan (CERN) ; Chrysalidis, Katerina (CERN) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN) ; Wilkins, Shane G (CERN) ; Mildren, Richard P (Macquarie U.) ; Spence, David J (Macquarie U.)
Fourier-limited nanosecond pulses featuring narrow spectral bandwidths are required for applications in spectroscopy, sensing, and quantum optics. Here, we demonstrate a direct and simple route for the generation of single-frequency light relying on phonon-resonant Raman interactions within a monolithic diamond resonator. [...]

Enabling the use of Raman lasers for spectroscopy: continuous tunability, narrow linewidth and efficient cascading in diamond / Echarri, Daniel T (CERN ; Navarra U.) ; Chrysalidis, Katerina (CERN) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN) ; Mildren, Richard P (Macquarie U.) ; Olaizola, Santiago M (Navarra U.) ; Spence, David J (Macquarie U.) ; Wilkins, Shane G (CERN) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN)
We demonstrate a Raman laser continuously tunable in the visible range, capable of performing element-selective photo-ionization. The Stokes outputs exhibited a linewidth of 11.0 ± 1.0 GHz with a conversion efficiency of more than 60%..

Efficient Production of High Specific Activity Thulium-167 at Paul Scherrer Institute and CERN-MEDICIS / Heinke, Reinhard (CERN ; Leuven U.) ; Chevallay, Eric (CERN) ; Chrysalidis, Katerina (CERN) ; Cocolios, Thomas E (Leuven U.) ; Duchemin, Charlotte (Leuven U. ; CERN) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Hurier, Sophie (Leuven U. ; SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Lambert, Laura (CERN) ; Leenders, Benji (Leuven U. ; SCK-CEN, Mol ; Gent U.) ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN) et al.
Thulium-167 is a promising radionuclide for nuclear medicine applications with potential use for both diagnosis and therapy (“theragnostics”) in disseminated tumor cells and small metastases, due to suitable gamma-line as well as conversion/Auger electron energies. However, adequate delivery methods are yet to be developed and accompanying radiobiological effects to be investigated, demanding the availability of $^{167}$Tm in appropriate activities and quality. CERN-MEDICIS: A Review Since Commissioning in 2017 / MEDICIS Collaboration
The CERN-MEDICIS (MEDical Isotopes Collected from ISolde) facility has delivered its first radioactive ion beam at CERN (Switzerland) in December 2017 to support the research and development in nuclear medicine using non-conventional radionuclides. Since then, fourteen institutes, including CERN, have joined the collaboration to drive the scientific program of this unique installation and evaluate the needs of the community to improve the research in imaging, diagnostics, radiation therapy and personalized medicine. On the Feasibility of Rovibrational Laser Cooling of Radioactive RaF$^{+}$ and RaH$^{+}$ Cations / Isaev, Timur A (St. Petersburg, INP) ; Wilkins, Shane G (MIT, LNS) ; Athanasakis-Kaklamanakis, Michail (CERN ; Leuven U.)
Polar radioactive molecules have been suggested to be exceptionally sensitive systems in the search for signatures of symmetry-violating effects in their structure. Radium monofluoride (RaF) possesses an especially attractive electronic structure for such searches, as the diagonality of its Franck-Condon matrix enables the implementation of direct laser cooling for precision experiments.
