Study of event-by-event fluctuations in the charged particle ratio in high energy heavy-ion collisions / Zhou Dai Mei ; Cai, Xu ; Liu Zhi Yi ; Lu Zhong Dao ; Sá Ben-Hao
Using a hadron and string cascade model, JPCIAE, and the corresponding Monte Carlo event generator, the behavior of the charged particle ratio event-by-event fluctuations in subsystem depending on energy, centrality, resonance decay and rapidity interval was investigated for Pb+Pb collisions at SPS and ALICE energies, and for Au+Au collisions at RHIC energies. The model results of charged particle ratio event-by-event fluctuations as a function of the rapidity interval in Pb+Pb collisions at SPS energies were comparable with the preliminary NA49 data. One resistive plate chamber made of Chinese materials and one Italian resistive plate chamber have been tested in the Gamma Irradiation Facility (GIF) at CERN on a high intensity muon beam together with a /sup 137/Cs source to give a uniform photon background, and simulating conditions close to those expected for an LHC muon detector. Enhancement of phi meson production in p-p and Pb-Pb collisions at SPS energy / Wang Xiao Rong ; Sá Ben-Hao ; Zhou Dai Mei ; Tai, An ; Xu, N ; Cai, Xu
The phi meson yield, rapidity and transverse mass distributions in p- p and Pb-Pb collisions at 158 A GeV were studied by the hadron-string cascade model, LUCIAE. By adjusting the width parameter in qq Gaussian like transverse momentum distribution in string fragmentation to fit the NA49 data of phi meson transverse mass distribution in p-p collisions, the obtained phi meson rapidity distribution in p-p collisions, the rapidity and transverse mass distributions in Pb-Pb collisions, and the phi meson enhancement factor in Pb-Pb relative to p-p collisions were compatible with corresponding NA49 data, which might be attributed to the collective effect in gluon emission of string and the reduction of strange quark suppression mechanisms involved in the LUCIAE model. Using a hadron and string cascade model, JPCIAE, the energy and centrality dependences of charged particle pseudorapidity density in relativistic nuclear collisions were studied. Within the framework of this model, both the relativistic $p+\bar p$ experimental data and the PHOBOS and PHENIX $Au+Au$ data at $\sqrt s_{nn}$=130 GeV could be reproduced fairly well without retuning the model parameters.
