The Fast Interaction Trigger detector for the ALICE Upgrade / Karavicheva, T L (Moscow, INR) /ALICE
As a result of the LHC injectors upgrade after the Long Shutdown (2019-2020), the expected Pb-Pb luminosity and collision rate during the so called Runs 3 and 4 will considerably exceed the design parameters for several of the key ALICE detectors systems including the forward trigger detectors. Fast Interaction Trigger (FIT) will be the primary forward trigger, luminosity, and collision time measurement detector. [...]

Status of Fast Interaction Trigger for ALICE Upgrade / Karavicheva, T L (Moscow, INR) ; Kurepin, A B (Moscow, INR) ; Trzaska, W H (Jyvaskyla U.) /ALICE
As a result of the LHC upgrade after the Long Shutdown 2, the expected luminosity and collision rate during the so called Run 3 will considerably exceed the design parameters for several of the key ALICE detectors systems including the forward trigger detectors. Furthermore, the introduction of a new Muon Forward Tracker significantly reduces the space envelope available for the upgraded Fast Interaction Trigger (FIT) detector on the muon spectrometer side. In June 2012 a FARICH prototype from Philips Digital Photon Counting (PDPC) based on a photon camera with dimensions of 200×200 mm has been tested at CERN. Remarkable particle separation has been achieved with a 4-layer aerogel sample: the π /K separation at a 6 GeV/ c momentum is 3.5 σ , the μ/π separation is 5.3 σ at 1 GeV/ c . [...]

J/$\psi$ azimuthal anisotropy relative to the reaction plane in Pb-Pb collisions at 158 GeV per nucleon / on behalf of the NA50 Collaboration
The J/$\psi$ azimuthal distribution relative to the reaction plane has been measured by the NA50 experiment in Pb-Pb collisions at 158 GeV/nucleon. Various physical mechanisms related to charmonium dissociation in the medium created in the heavy ion collision are expected to introduce an anisotropy in the azimuthal distribution of the observed J/$\psi$ mesons at SPS energies. The J/$\psi$ normal nuclear absorption / NA50 Collaboration
We present a new determination of the ratio of cross-sections ($J/\psi$) /DY as expected for nucleus-nucleus reactions if J/psi would only be normally absorbed by nuclear matter. This anticipated behaviour is based on proton-nucleus data exclusively, and compared, as a function of centrality, with updated S-U results from experiment NA38 and with the most recent Pb-Pb results from experiment NA50..
