Initial design of a proton complex for the Muon Collider
/ Johannesson, Sofia (ESS, Lund) ; Lombardi, Alessandra (CERN) ; Gorzawski, Arkadiusz (ESS, Lund) ; Kelliher, David (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory) ; Laface, Emanuele (ESS, Lund) ; Vojskovic, Isabella (ESS, Lund) ; Milas, Natalia (ESS, Lund) ; Machida, Shinji (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory) ; Gilardoni, Simone (CERN)
The proton complex is the first piece in the Muon Collider, it comprises a high power acceleration section, a compressor and a target delivery system. For the International Muon Collider Collaboration we are investigating the possibility of having a full energy 5-GeV linac followed by an accumulator and a compressor ring and finally a target delivery system. Testing the Global Diffusive Behaviour of Beam-Halo Dynamics at the CERN LHC Using Collimator Scans
/ Montanari, Carlo Emilio (Bologna U.) ; Bazzani, Armando (Bologna U.) ; Giovannozzi, Massimo (CERN) ; Gorzawski, Arkadiusz (Lund U.) ; Redaelli, Stefano (CERN)
In superconducting circular particle accelerators, controlling beam losses is of paramount importance for ensuring optimal machine performance and an efficient operation. To achieve the required level of understanding of the mechanisms underlying beam losses, models based on global diffusion processes have recently been studied and proposed to investigate the beam-halo dynamics. Gamma Factory for CERN initiative - progress report
/ Dutheil, Yann (CERN) ; Abramov, Andrey (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Alden, Siobhan (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Alemany Fernandez, Reyes (CERN) ; Antsiferov, Pavel (Troitsk, IZMIRAN) ; Apyan, Armen (NAS Armenia, Yerevan) ; Bartosik, Hannes (CERN) ; Bessonov, Evgeny (Lebedev Inst.) ; Biancacci, Nicolo (CERN) ; Bieron, Jacek (Jagiellonian U.) et al.
The Gamma Factory (GF) initiative proposes to use partially stripped ion (PSI) beams as drivers of a new type of high-intensity and high-energy (0.1–400 MeV) photon source. As part of the ongoing Physics Beyond Collider studies, initial beam tests were carried out in 2017 and 2018 at the SPS and LHC with partially stripped xenon and lead beams [...]

In the scope of the Physics Beyond Colliders studies, the Gamma-Factory initiative proposes the use of partially stripped ions as a driver of a new type of high-intensity photon source in CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In 2018, the LHC accelerated and stored partially stripped $^{208}\text{Pb}^{81+}$ ions for the first time. [...]
