The excited states of unstable 20O were investigated via γ-ray spectroscopy following the 19O(d,p)20O reaction at 8 AMeV. By exploiting the Doppler Shift Attenuation Method, the lifetime of the 2+2 and 3+1 states were firmly established. [...]

Shape evolution in even-mass 98−104Zr isotopes via lifetime measurements using the γγ-coincidence technique
/ Pasqualato, G. (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Ansari, S. (IRFU, Saclay) ; Heines, J.S. (Oslo U.) ; Modamio, V. (Oslo U.) ; Görgen, A. (Oslo U.) ; Korten, W. (IRFU, Saclay) ; Ljungvall, J. (IJCLab, Orsay ; Strasbourg, IPHC) ; Clément, E. (GANIL) ; Dudouet, J. (IP2I, Lyon) ; Lemasson, A. (GANIL) et al.
The Zirconium (Z = 40) isotopic chain has attracted interest for more than four decades. The abrupt lowering of the energy of the first 2+ state and the increase in the transition strength B(E2; 2→10+1 going from 98Zr to 100Zr has been the first example of "quantum phase transition" in nuclear shapes, which has few equivalents in the nuclear chart. Search for 22Na in novae supported by a novel method for measuring femtosecond nuclear lifetimes
/ Fougères, Chloé (GANIL ; Argonne, PHY) ; de Oliveira Santos, François (GANIL) ; José, Jordi (Barcelona U. ; Barcelona, IEEC) ; Michelagnoli, Caterina (Laue-Langevin Inst.) ; Clément, Emmanuel (GANIL) ; Kim, Yung Hee (GANIL ; IBS, Daejeon, CENS) ; Lemasson, Antoine (GANIL) ; Guimarães, Valdir (Sao Paulo U.) ; Barrientos, Diego (CERN) ; Bemmerer, Daniel (HZDR, Dresden) et al.
Classical novae are thermonuclear explosions in stellar binary systems, and important sources of 26Al and 22Na. While gamma rays from the decay of the former radioisotope have been observed throughout the Galaxy, 22Na remains untraceable. [...]

178Hg and asymmetric fission of neutron-deficient pre-actinides

Fission at low excitation energy is an ideal playground to probe the impact of nuclear structure on nuclear dynamics. While the importance of structural effects in the nascent fragments is well-established in the (trans-)actinide region, the observation of asymmetric fission in several neutron-deficient pre-actinides can be explained by various mechanisms. The reduced transition probabilities for the 4+1→2+1 and 2+1→0+1 transitions in 92Mo and 94Ru and for the 4+1→2+1 and 6+1→4+1 transitions in 90Zr have been determined in this experiment making use of a multinucleon transfer reaction. These results have been interpreted on the basis of realistic shell-model calculations in the f5/2,p3/2,p1/2, and g9/2 proton valence space. [...]

Experimental Evidence for Common Driving Effects in Low-Energy Fission from Sublead to Actinides

Isotopic distributions of fragments from fission of the neutron-deficient 178Hg nuclide are reported. This experimental observable is obtained for the first time in the region around lead using an innovative approach based on inverse kinematics and the coincidence between the large acceptance magnetic spectrometer VAMOS++ and a new detection arm close to the target. Lifetime measurements in 52,54Ti to study shell evolution toward N=32
/ AGATA Collaboration
Lifetimes of the excited states in the neutron-rich Ti52,54 nuclei, produced in a multinucleon-transfer reaction, were measured by employing the Cologne plunger device and the recoil-distance Doppler-shift method. The experiment was performed at the Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourds facility by using the Advanced Gamma Tracking Array for the γ-ray detection, coupled to the large-acceptance variable mode spectrometer for an event-by-event particle identification. Effects of one valence proton on seniority and angular momentum of neutrons in neutron-rich 122−131Sb51 isotopes

The neutron-rich 122−131Sb isotopes were produced as fission fragments in the reaction 9Be(238U,~f) with 6.2 MeV/u beam energy. An unique setup, consisting of AGATA, VAMOS++ and EXOGAM detectors, was used which enabled the prompt-delayed gamma-ray (γ) spectroscopy of fission fragments in the time range of 100 ns - 200 μs.
