The Vincia Parton Shower / Giele, Walter T. (Fermilab) ; Hartgring, Lisa (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Kosower, David A. (CEA, DSM, Saclay) ; Laenen, Eric (NIKHEF, Amsterdam ; Amsterdam U. ; Utrecht U.) ; Larkoski, Andrew J. (MIT, Cambridge, CTP) ; Lopez-Villarejo, Juan J. (CEA, DSM, Saclay ; CERN ; Madrid, Autonoma U.) ; Ritzmann, Mathias (CEA, DSM, Saclay) ; Skands, Peter (CERN)
We summarize recent developments in the VINCIA parton shower. After a brief review of the basics of the formalism, the extension of VINCIA to hadron collisions is sketched. [...]

On next-to-eikonal exponentiation / Laenen, Eric (NIKHEF, Amsterdam ; Utrecht U. ; Amsterdam U.) ; Magnea, Lorenzo (CERN ; Turin U. ; INFN, Turin) ; Stavenga, Gerben (Fermilab) ; White, Chris D. (Durham U., IPPP)
The eikonal approximation is at the heart of many theoretical and phenomenological studies involving multiple soft gauge boson emissions in high energy physics. We describe our efforts towards the extension of the eikonal approximation for scattering amplitudes to the first subleading power in the soft momentum..

Supersymmetric top and bottom squark production at hadron colliders / Beenakker, Wim (Nijmegen U., IMAPP) ; Brensing, Silja (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch. ; NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Kramer, Michael (CERN ; Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Kulesza, Anna (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Laenen, Eric (Amsterdam U. ; Utrecht U. ; NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Niessen, Irene (Nijmegen U., IMAPP)
The scalar partners of top and bottom quarks are expected to be the lightest squarks in supersymmetric theories, with potentially large cross sections at hadron colliders. We present predictions for the production of top and bottom squarks at the Tevatron and the LHC, including next-to-leading order corrections in supersymmetric QCD and the resummation of soft gluon emission at next-to-leading-logarithmic accuracy. Isolating $Wt$ production at the LHC / White, Chris D. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Frixione, Stefano (CERN ; ITPP, Lausanne) ; Laenen, Eric (Amsterdam U. ; Utrecht U. ; NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Maltoni, Fabio (Louvain U., CP3)
We address the issue of single top production in association with a W boson at the Large Hadron Collider, in particular how to obtain an accurate description in the face of the top pair production background given that the two processes interfere with each other. We stress the advantages of an MC@NLO description, and find that for cuts used to isolate the signal, it makes sense to consider Wt as a well-defined production process in that the interference with top pair production is small, and the cross-section of the former is above the scale variation uncertainty associated with the latter.
