The role of colour flows in matrix element computations and Monte Carlo simulations / Frixione, Stefano (INFN, Genoa ; CERN) ; Webber, Bryan R. (Cambridge U.)
We discuss how colour flows can be used to simplify the computation of matrix elements, and in the context of parton shower Monte Carlos with accuracy beyond leading-colour. We show that, by systematically employing them, the results for tree-level matrix elements and their soft limits can be given in a closed form that does not require any colour algebra. [...]

On factorisation schemes for the electron parton distribution functions in QED / Frixione, Stefano (INFN, Genoa ; CERN)
The electron, positron, and photon Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) of the unpolarised electron have recently been computed at the next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy in QED, by adopting the $\overline{\rm MS}$ factorisation scheme. We present here analogous results, obtained by working in a different framework that is inspired by the so-called DIS scheme. [...]

Model-independent approach for incorporating interference effects in collider searches for new resonances / Frixione, Stefano (INFN, Genoa) ; Roos, Lydia (Paris U., VI-VII) ; Ting, Edmund (ARC, CoEPP, Australia ; Adelaide U., Sch. Chem. Phys.) ; Vryonidou, Eleni (CERN) ; White, Martin (ARC, CoEPP, Australia ; Adelaide U., Sch. Chem. Phys.) ; Williams, Anthony G. (ARC, CoEPP, Australia ; Adelaide U., Sch. Chem. Phys.)
The presence of large-mass resonances in the data collected at the Large Hadron Collider would provide direct evidence of physics beyond the Standard Model. A key challenge in current resonance searches at the LHC is the modelling of signal--background interference effects, which can severely distort the shape of the reconstructed invariant mass distribution relative to the case where there is no interference. Precise predictions for boosted Higgs production / Becker, Kathrin (Freiburg U.) ; Caola, Fabrizio (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Massironi, Andrea (CERN ; INFN, Milan Bicocca) ; Mistlberger, Bernhard (MIT) ; Monni, Pier Francesco (CERN) ; Chen, Xuan (Zurich U.) ; Frixione, Stefano (INFN, Genoa) ; Gehrmann, Thomas (Zurich U.) ; Glover, Nigel (Durham U., IPPP) ; Hamilton, Keith (University Coll. London) et al.
Inclusive Higgs boson production at large transverse momentum is induced by different production channels. We focus on the leading production through gluon fusion, and perform a consistent combination of the state of the art calculations obtained in the infinite-top-mass effective theory at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) and in the full Standard Model (SM) at next-to-leading order (NLO). Recommended predictions for the boosted-Higgs cross section / Becker, Kathrin (Albert Ludwigs Universitaet Freiburg (DE)) ; Caola, Fabrizio (University of Durham (GB)) ; Massironi, Andrea (CERN) ; Mistlberger, Bernhard (Massachusetts Inst. of Technology (US)) ; Monni, Pier (CERN) ; Chen, Xuan (Zurich U.) ; Frixione, Stefano (INFN e Universita Genova (IT)) ; Gehrmann, Thomas Kurt (Universitaet Zuerich (CH)) ; Glover, Nigel (IPPP Durham) ; Hamilton, Keith Murray (University of London (GB)) et al.
In this note we study the inclusive production of a Higgs boson with large transverse momentum. We provide a recommendation for the inclusive cross section based on a combination of state of the art QCD predictions for the gluon-fusion and vector-boson-fusion channels. [...]
