New RPC gas mixtures for sustainable operation in the CMS experiment / CMS Muon Collaboration
The current operation of the Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) system within the CMS experiment involves approximately 95% tetrafluoroethane (C2H2F4, TFE). However, in response to climate change concerns, the European Union has instituted a ban on TFE owing to its elevated Global Warming Potential, resulting in an associated increase in market prices. [...]

CMS iRPC clustering algorithm and hit reconstruction / CMS Muon Collaboration
One of the upgrades of the CMS RPC system is the installation of new chambers – the improved Resistive Plate Chambers – with a new readout technology, achieving a space resolution along the strip of about 2 cm, enabling the inclusion of the RPC hit in the CMS muon reconstruction. The main characteristic of the improved RPC is the two side strip readout which makes a new clusterization algorithm necessary. [...]

Preliminary aging studies of improved RPC gaps operated with HFO based mixtures / CMS Collaboration
Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs) at CMS experiment are operated with a gas mixture containing around 95% Tetrafluoroethane (C2H2F4), commonly known as R-134a, which has a global warming potential (GWP) of 1430. In the framework of the CMS Upgrade project for the High Luminosity phase, new improved RPCs (iRPC) have been developed to enhance the legacy performances in the most RPC forward region of the experiment, shown in Fig. [...]

CMS RPC non-physics event data automation ideology / CMS Collaboration
This paper presents a streamlined framework for real-time processing and analysis of condition data from the CMS experiment Resistive Plate Chambers (RPC). Leveraging data streaming, it uncovers correlations between RPC performance metrics, like currents and rates, and LHC luminosity or environmental conditions. [...]

Latest results of longevity studies on the present CMS Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) system for the HL-LHC phase / Barroso Ferreira Filho, Mapse (Rio de Janeiro State U.) ; de Souza, Sandro Fonseca (Rio de Janeiro State U.) ; Aly, Reham (Cairo, Acad. Sci. Res. Tech. ; Helwan U.) ; Ramos, Dayron (Bari Polytechnic ; INFN, Bari) ; Damião, Dilson De Jesus (Rio de Janeiro State U.) ; Pinheiro, João Pedro Gomes (Rio de Janeiro State U.) /CMS Collaboration
The HL-LHC phase will be a challenge for the existing CMS RPC system, as the expected operating conditions are much higher with respect to those for which the detectors have been designed. In addition, this could introduce non-recoverable aging effects, which can alter the detector properties [...]

CMS iRPC FEB development and validation / CMS Muon Collaboration
In view of the High Luminosity upgrade of the CERN LHC, the forward CMS Muon spectrometer will be extended with two new stations of improved Resistive Plate Chambers (iRPC) covering the pseudorapidity range from 1.8 to 2.4. Compared to the present RPC system, the gap thickness is reduced to lower the avalanche charge, and an innovative 2D strip readout geometry is proposed. [...]

Improved resistive plate chambers for HL-LHC upgrade of CMS / CMS Muon Collaboration
In view of the High Luminosity LHC, the CMS Muon system will be upgraded to sustain its efficient muon triggering and reconstruction performance. Resistive Plate Chambers (RPC) are dedicated detectors for muon triggering due to their excellent timing resolution. [...]

Latest results of Longevity studies on the present CMS RPC system for HL-LHC phase / CMS Muon Collaboration
The present Compact Muon Solenoid Resistive Plate Chambers system has been worked efficiently during Run I and Run II of data taking period (Shah et al., 2020) [1]. In the coming years of operation with the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), the expected rate and integrated charge are expected to be about 600 Hz/cm2 and 840 mC/cm2, respectively (including a safety factor of three). The muon system of the CERN Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment includes more than a thousand Resistive Plate Chambers (RPC). They are gaseous detectors operated in the hostile environment of the CMS underground cavern on the Large Hadron Collider where pp luminosities of up to $2\times 10^{34}$$\text{cm}^{-2}\text{s}^{-1}$ are routinely achieved.
