$R^2$--Inflation Derived from 4d Strings, the Role of the Dilaton, and Turning the Swampland into a Mirage / Antoniadis, Ignatios (Chulalongkorn U. ; Paris, LPTHE) ; Nanopoulos, Dimitri V. (Athens Academy ; Texas A-M ; Athens U. ; HARC, Woodlands ; CERN) ; Olive, Keith A. (Minnesota U.)
Based on a previously derived superstring model possessing a cosmological sector that mimics Starobinsky inflation, we analyze several questions addressed in the recent literature: the generation of an effective $R^2$-term, the stability of the sgoldstino , the modular symmetry of the inflaton potential and the large distance swampland conjecture. Late time acceleration in Palatini gravity / Antoniadis, Ignatios (Paris, LPTHE ; SISSA, Trieste ; ICTP, Trieste) ; Guillen, Anthony (Paris, LPTHE) ; Tamvakis, Kyriakos (Ioannina U. ; CERN)
We investigate the effect of the quadratic correction $\alpha R^2$ and non-minimal coupling $\xi \phi^2 R$ on a quintessence model with an exponential potential $V(\phi) = M^4\exp(-\lambda\phi)$ in the Palatini formulation of gravity. We use dynamical system techniques to analyze the attractor structure of the model and uncover the possible trajectories of the system. [...]

Ultraviolet behaviour of Higgs inflation models / Antoniadis, Ignatios (Paris, LPTHE ; Nordita ; Royal Inst. Tech., Stockholm) ; Guillen, Anthony (Paris, LPTHE) ; Tamvakis, Kyriakos (Ioannina U. ; CERN)
We study the ultraviolet behaviour of Higgs inflation models above the apparent unitarity violation scale arising from the large non minimal coupling to gravity, by computing on-shell 4-point scattering amplitudes in the presence of a large inflaton background, away from the electroweak vacuum. We find that all tree-level amplitudes are well behaved at high energies below the inflaton background that can thus take values up to the Planck scale. [...]

Testing Strings at the LHC? / Antoniadis, Ignatios (CERN)
Lowering the string scale in the TeV region provides a theoretical framework for solving the mass hierarchy problem and unifying all in- teractions. The apparent weakness of gravity can then be accounted by the existence of large internal dimensions, in the submillimeter region, and transverse to a braneworld where our universe must be confined. Possible Low-Energy Manifestations of Strings and Gravity / Antoniadis, Ignatios (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, CPHT)
Despite the important experimental success of general relativity, there are several theoretical reasons indicating that gravitational phenomena may change radically from the predictions of Einstein’s theory at very short distances. A main motivation comes from studies of unifying all fundamental forces in the framework of a consistent quantum theory, called string theory. [...]

All partial breakings in ${\cal N}=2$ supergravity with a single hypermultiplet / Antoniadis, Ignatios (Paris, LPTHE ; U. Bern, AEC) ; Derendinger, Jean-Pierre (U. Bern, AEC ; Paris, LPTHE) ; Petropoulos, P. Marios (Ecole Polytechnique, CPHT) ; Siampos, Konstantinos (CERN ; U. Bern, AEC)
We consider partial supersymmetry breaking in ${\cal N}=2$ supergravity coupled to a single vector and a single hypermultiplet. This breaking pattern is in principle possible if the quaternion-K\"ahler space of the hypermultiplet admits (at least) one pair of commuting isometries. [...]

Physics with large extra dimensions / Antoniadis, Ignatios (CERN)
A theory with such a mathematical beauty cannot be wrong: this was one of the main arguments in favor of string theory, which unifies all known physical theories of fundamental interactions in a single coherent description of the universe. But no one has ever observed strings, not even indirectly, neither the space of extra dimensions where they live. [...]

$N=2^∗$ (non-)Abelian theory in the $\Omega$ background from string theory / Samsonyan, Marine (CERN) ; Angelantonj, Carlo (Turin U. ; INFN, Turin) ; Antoniadis, Ignatios (Paris, LPTHE ; Bern U.)
We present a D-brane realisation of the Abelian and non-Abelian N = 2 ∗ theory both in five and four dimensions. We compute topological amplitudes in string theory for Ω deformed spacetime first with one and then with two parameters. [...]

A string realisation of $\varOmega$-deformed Abelian $\mathcal{N}=2^*$ theory / Angelantonj, Carlo (INFN, Turin ; Turin U.) ; Antoniadis, Ignatios (Paris, LPTHE ; UPMC, Paris (main) ; U. Bern, AEC) ; Samsonyan, Marine (CERN)
The $\mathscr{N}=2^*$ supersymmetric gauge theory is a massive deformation of $\mathscr{N}=4$, in which the adjoint hypermultiplet gets a mass. We present a D-brane realisation of the (non-)Abelian $\mathscr{N}=2^*$ theory, and compute suitable topological amplitudes, which are expressed as a double series expansion. [...]

Mass hierarchy and physics beyond the Standard Model / Antoniadis, Ignatios (CERN)
I discuss the status of the mass hierarchy problem and prospects for beyond the Standard Model physics in the light of the Higgs scalar discovery at the LHC and the experimental searches for new physics. In particular, I will discuss in this context low energy supersymmetry and large extra dimensions with low string scale..
