The Forward TPC system of the NA61/SHINE experiment at CERN: a tandem TPC concept / Rumberger, Brant (U. Colorado, Boulder) ; Aduszkiewicz, Antoni (Warsaw U.) ; Boissevain, Jan (U. Colorado, Boulder) ; Kuich, Magdalena (Warsaw U.) ; László, András (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Nagai, Yoshikazu (U. Colorado, Boulder) ; Oláh, László (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Podlaski, Piotr (Warsaw U.) ; Varga, Dezső (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Wensveen, Martin (CERN) et al.
This paper presents the Forward Time Projection Chamber (FTPC) system of the NA61/SHINE experiment at the CERN SPS accelerator. This TPC system applies a novel tandem-TPC design to reduce the background originating from particle tracks not synchronous with the event trigger. [...]

Design and Performance of the Data Acquisition System for the NA61/SHINE Experiment at CERN / László, András (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Dénes, Ervin (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Fodor, Zoltán (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Kiss, Tivadar (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Kleinfelder, Stuart (UC, Irvine) ; Soós, Csaba (CERN) ; Tefelski, Dariusz (Warsaw U. of Tech.) ; Tölyhi, Tamás (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Vesztergombi, György (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Wyszyński, Oskar (Jagiellonian U. ; CERN)
This paper describes the hardware, firmware and software systems used in data acquisition for the NA61/SHINE experiment at the CERN SPS accelerator. Special emphasis is given to the design parameters of the readout electronics for the 40 m^3 volume Time Projection Chamber detectors as these give the largest contribution to event data among all the subdetectors: events consisting of 8 bit ADC values from 256 time slices of 200 k electronic channels are to be read out with order of ~100 Hz readout rate. Low Momentum Particle Detector for the NA61 Experiment at CERN / Márton, Krisztina (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Kiss, Gábor (Eotvos U. ; Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; László, András (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Varga, Dezsö (Wigner RCP, Budapest)
The NA61 Experiment at CERN SPS is a large acceptance hadron spectrometer, aimed at studying of hadron-hadron, hadron-nucleus, and nucleus-nucleus interactions in a fixed target environment. The present paper discusses the construction and performance of the Low Momentum Particle Detector (LMPD), a small time projection chamber unit which has been added to the original NA61 setup. [...]

Superradiance or total reflection? / László, András (CERN) ; Rácz, István
Numerical evolution of massless scalar fields on Kerr background is studied. The initial data specifications are chosen to have compact support separated from the ergoregion and to yield nearly monochromatic incident wave packets. [...]

On the Use of Multipole Expansion in Time Evolution of Non-linear Dynamical Systems and Some Surprises Related to Superradiance / Csizmadia, Peter (Budapest, RMKI) ; Laszlo, Andras (Budapest, RMKI ; CERN) ; Racz, Istvan (Budapest, RMKI)
A new numerical method is introduced to study the problem of time evolution of generic non-linear dynamical systems in four-dimensional spacetimes. It is assumed that the time level surfaces are foliated by a one-parameter family of codimension two compact surfaces with no boundary and which are conformal to a Riemannian manifold C. [...]

A Linear Iterative Unfolding Method / László, András (Budapest, RMKI ; CERN)
A frequently faced task in experimental physics is to measure the probability distribution of some quantity. Often this quantity to be measured is smeared by a non-ideal detector response or by some physical process. [...]

Strange Particle Production in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 0.9 and 7 TeV / CMS Collaboration
The spectra of strange hadrons are measured in proton-proton collisions, recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC, at centre-of-mass energies of 0.9 and 7 TeV. The K0_s, Lambda, and Xi^- particles and their antiparticles are reconstructed from their decay topologies and the production rates are measured as functions of rapidity and transverse momentum. [...]

Measurement of $B\overline{B}$ angular correlations based on secondary vertex reconstruction at $\sqrt{s}$=7 TeV / CMS Collaboration
A measurement of the angular correlations between beauty and anti-beauty hadrons (B B-bar) produced in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the CERN LHC is presented, probing for the first time the region of small angular separation. The B hadrons are identified by the presence of displaced secondary vertices from their decays. [...]
